I'm not sure on this, as I've not done that much research, and I haven't had a lot of free time lately-- but, is there a version of Descent or OpenGL port that will work on an Android-based device? I know there are Linux versions, but I know close to nothing about coding / porting / Android OS.
Thanks!

I recall hearing of someone attempting to do that, although I don't have any more specifics. It should be relatively straightforward since Android is based on *nix as far as I know.

Descent games have so many control keys. Too many for small mobile devices, might hurt our thumbs. A PSP would be fine for the games, but still not great.

It could work. turn the phone in the direction you want to turn the ship. If you want to move forward and back, just run in that direction and the GPS data can be used as a control. edit: Shooting could be voice commanded. edit edit: I'd love to see that lan party.

I found a way to get the Playstation version to work on my G1!
This was entirely something I was curious about, and it doesn't seem like much potential without a direct port to Android.

It would work fantastic on iPhone with that gyroscope. Move device to look, control stick to move forward/backward and strafe left/right, maybe a separate button for strafe up/down? I'd never use it...
Cycle primary button, cycle secondary button, and slide the control stick further forward for afterburner.
