3dsmax was great! We used it at this one college I went to. Some old school stuff:

A fresh start on blender is going to be fun. Most of the mesh modeling tools are exactly the same, just re arranged so 3dsmax users get lost

Modifiers are also pretty similar to 3dsmax modifiers. Just fewer. The UVW mapping also is similar but very re-arranged.
