Agreed, I made a facebook account only as a place-holder, because I believe a facebook account has become a new kind of internet ID that can be spoofed by someone. Question: Why not block friend requests and invites? I basically put facebook on mute.

If you really quit, why not just delete your account?

Best way to avoid all notifications is to either turn them off or deactivate you FB account...

You mean, bitching about it to a group of people who don't even use facebook isn't the solution?

Facebook is a soapbox. A way to share ideas to a worldwide audience. Privacy is a joke in today's technologically advanced world. The trick is to live in such high standard of integrity, that no one can say anything against you. Then you are free to do and think and say whatever you want ;)

Wrong, facebook sucks at this, unless you work your ass off and try to build subscribers.

Reddit, on the other hand, with a brand new account I reach the front page within 3 hours and get hundreds of thousands of viewers, from unnetted 5000 upvotes. I do this all the time.

Doesn't matter how many people see it, if it doesn't take root ;)

Reddit vs Facebook:
"Yeah! I got 15 likes! What a great post! I did a great job making that post!!"

"★■◆●... I only got 530 upvotes... I guess my post wasn't that interesting..."

This might be a bit presumptuous of me, but if your ego is driven by people you don't know on the internet approving of your statements, you might need to reevaluate your goals in life...

Naaah, the trick is to make everything you say about yourself so ludicrously obviously false that when you do say something true about yourself, people just dismiss it. :P
It's fun. I like to invent other people to be. Being given only one life as only one person is completely unfair.

Though, I rarely go on facebook at all and when I do have to, I'm not happy about it.

Why would I reevaluate anything? They're points I gain when I do well and it's fun.

On the other paw, entirely not caring what people think online isn't the greatest idea either.
I don't think it ever hurts to go a little out of your way to be nice to someone; whether online or in real life, the context doesn't matter. I'd much rather make friends than foes.
