For anyone who's played at least a decent majority of their work, what are your favorites - and do you have a preference toward the D1 stuff or D2 stuff? They made so many stuff and the ratings on the DMDB vary vastly. Up to three favorites can be picked. (Please don't pick anything you didn't like overall, even if it's 'technically' a relative favorite.)

All horrible. The 1st level's beatable, but the rest not. It's not neccessarily a bad idea to not follow the usual way, but if thou don't know where to go next or how to open a door, or wander hours around, it can be anything other than thrash.

Funny you should say that, because I've played both Ironstar and Ironblade on Ace and felt like there were plenty of powerups to balance out the number of robots. They're both a pretty fun challenge for me, and the level designs themselves also stand out as very detailed and creative for their time. "Badlands" (Level S2 of Ironstar) still holds a special place in my heart for its concept and composition, but really I enjoyed most of the levels in both sets.
