Poll: Gamesurge or Shadowfire

I vote shadowfire.

why? a few reasons.

Gamesurge netsplits, times out and is usually not accessible to me sometimes.

Shadowfire has always been there. I'm always able to connect to it no matter what.

I suggested the idea to make the same poll on Planetdescent.com a few weeks ago but they didn't do it...

oh and: at the moment I am / others are unable to connect to Gamesurge (AGAIN)...

I'm the exact opposite of you guys. I can barely ever get onto Shadowfire, but Gamesurge has always been fine for me.

Although i have used Shadowfire first since the demise of PXO, i use Gamesurge now as well .... however i have had difficulty several times logging in to Gamesurge. In addition i do not like the chat interface of Kali as well as Gamesurge while Shadowfire has remained and is always accessible .... i'm glad their both here, but i prefer Shadowfire :P The_Weed

Is the DNS crapped out again?

Oh and for the record I've never had problems connecting to GameSurge, but have often had problems with ShadowFire.

you don't like the chat interface of kali or gamesurge but shadowfire's is good?

what? tell me i'm misunderstanding your grammar.

gamesurge and shadowfire's chat interface are the same. the only thing affecting either is what program you use to chat on them.

on topic, i voted gamesurge simply becuase its where every other community for every other modern game is. why should i have to inconvienence myself by switching back and forth between the two when i want to chat with my quake friends, descent friends, halo friends, ut friends, etc when all of them but one is on the same network? why not just use the descent3 room that is on the same network? i'm not gonna go through the hassle of configuring a bunch of sh1t to have gamesurge and shadowfire running at the same time for some elitist bastards who think they are too good for gamesurge. things like that have bee this communities problem since the beginning. if some people never go to gamesurge, then i guess i'll never see them again. not much more i can say but that.

as far as the networks go, i don't care which one is used other than because of the reasons above. neither network has any problems, its all user error if you cant connect to them. gamesurge hasn't failed in years, it has tons of servers to use if one of them goes down. never have they all been down at the same time. not since it was gamesnet back in the days of doom, descent 1 and duke nukem. if you can't get on it, you aren't doing something right. if you are using the webchat, maybe diddy coded something wrong. whatever is the reason, it is not gamesurge's fault. they are the biggest gaming network in the world for a reason. i imagine shadowfire is the same, although i'm not experienced enough with it to comment on it.

kur: it was a vote of which network has been the most reliable

not what one you like.

by kurupt
gamesurge is the most reliable. like i said, if you read, was if you can't get to gamesurge it is user error. i have never ever had a problem with it. if one of the gamesurge servers goes down they have thousands of others that automatically take its place. all of them won't go down at once.

Kur, have you read suncho's chat log with gamesurge support? its only 5 posts up :)

funny, i idle on gamesurge 24/7 and it hasn't ever booted me. when one server fails, try the next on the list. simple concept.

I haven't been on Shadowfire for a few months (The wrong people have op status there). I've never not been able to connect to Gamesurge.

Chanserv is not a spybot.

no one's an op on shadowfire anymore.

Javed: it was a vote of which network has been the most reliable

For me, I've never had problems connecting to GameSurge and I have had problems connecting to ShadowFire so I vote for GameSurge.

I shoulda read that more carefully. my bad. but my vote still goes for shadowfire. i'm not sure if its my irc app, but sometimes i cant connect to gamesurge. and if i DO connect, it would be after 8 seconds to be exact.

I have no probs connecting to either with my IRC app(ircle os 10) only issuesis have 2b connected to one or the other and not both. But that's ok, cuz I'm usually at gamesurge rookie channel now.

I love rounding errors don't you?

I guess we now can consider that vote to have a 5-10% margin of error, if not more.

Why? because some people have been confusing 'what they like' with 'reliability'

Or reliably what they like. :P
