Sounds like a latent ability hidden in the brain that is now working for some reason. I believe everybody has the ability to do wonderous things, afterall, we don't even use most of our brain, so there has to be something that we've either forgotten how to do, or will eventually learn how to do with it.

This could be just one example of that, or a fluke, meh Image

Impressive, defenately something to study.

more credible source?

I know, I know, I'm a damn skeptic. Image If it is true, that's awesome. Makes one wonder how one's eyes can adapt to see beyond the visible spectrum, and how she can switch between the two. She said it doesn't work at night, so what does that imply? That she needs visible light for it to function? Very odd indeed.

Needless to say Pravda is about as credible as the weekly world news.

Which of course is funny because pravda is Russian for "truth".

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proofs. No such proof or evidence is given. Ipso facto the story is BS. It's from Russia for goodness sake!

As to not using our entire brians - that is an old wives tale and is utterly untrue. You use just about every neuron in your brain and have done so since before you could walk.

But even if you only used 10% of your brain - what on earth do you think you could do with the "unused" portion? There's nothing you could do with that bit which you can't do with the other bits!

Or do you think there's some latent ability to read minds, see through human tissue, levitate objects, set things on fire, control other minds... LOL. I'd *love* to see the physiological processese which explain your beliefs.

Please note, as regards this story. The human eye and optic nerves are one of the most thoroughly well understood pieces of the human central nervous system, and out quite succinctly; human eyes can only detect the electromagnetic spectrum in a VERY small band, from Red through to Violet (ROYGBIV) and we have no ability to detect even the largest wavelengths of Infra Red (Lower than Red) nor the smallest Ultraviolet waves (Above Violet).

You *DO* have organs which *CAN* detect InfraRed AND Ultraviolet however. Your skin can detect Infrared quite nicely (HEAT!), and it also detects Ultraviolet, but the only way you can tell with the UV, is when you burn. Image

Did you guys know the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary does *NOT* have an entry for the word "gullible"? Image

I did note that it was probably a hoax myself, which does indicate skepticism on my part. Considering how many times I've seen you blabber on about this and that and get pwned by other people, your posts are taken with a grain of salt just as much as that article Image

so Mobi, can you say "literalist"?

Vertigo 99, in case you haven't noticed, I'm rarely serious with what I post here unless I'm railing against something so lame even a moron could sense the conviction and sincerity...well most of the morons can anyway. Image
But you didn't really think that I thought...

Well now, perhaps we have to re-examine our positions on this:

It's not possible for her to see X-rays and not UV rays and every other wavelength between violet and X-ray. I find it strange how she "manages" to single out an entire section of the electromagnetic spectrum and it just so happens to be X-ray... The wavelength for X-rays are something like 1000 times shorter than visible light.

Kinda seems a little far fetched to me. But you never know bout them ruskies
