the venue changed management and they now want $1200 up front to book the room, that plus the $300 we have to lay down for mobile power bring the grand total to $1500. last year it was $500 total up front which Rook and myself split. Was fairly tolerable, but we're certainly not laying out $750 each and then waiting till the day of the LAN to get it back. A lot of people waited till the last minute to pay or waited till the day of the LAN to pay. I dont wanna go through that again, especially with $1500.

The other venues in the area were all $1000+ per night, too expensive. Rook and I busted our asses finding the perfect place, and it was. Good price, great room, everything. It's all a matter of the cash right now. We're open to suggestions, benefactors, partners, etc. But I'm not interested in chasing people around for money. So if you guys want a LAN this year in Chicago, it's gonna be a group effort.

I'm willing to step up to the plate and make a donation which I understand may not be returned if proceeds from the LAN don't cover the costs.

Pun, I've spoken to you already. You know how much I can commit. Anyone else willing to put in some extra cash (it's only money), please speak up.

Just do it in your garage or something. We can all pitch in or pay a door fee for food and the electric. Dibs on the sofa :P

Yeah 1500 bucks that dosn't seem too bad. If 50 people make it at 30 bucks a pop that's 1500. And if some people can't afford it I'm sure others can cover. Could setup a paypal thing like Rock did for califests..(no negative coments please)Jazzy can help too. And with the help of Super Grover I'm sure anything can happen!

I dont think even super grover cold get 50 peeps to show, let alone send money in advance. I think 12 people payed in advance last year and that was for a definate event.

-Rook

ps all told the total was closer to $2000 than $1500. So you really need 40 peeps @ $50.

Yoyo Warmaster,
Well, it was sold to a university now, in Oak Park. The people who run it suck a big hairy one. After the 2nd LAN, they didn't want us back though. the mofos.
Hope there's another one this year. Maybe there'll be some quackers and halflifers as well as the descenters.
