I just upgraded my ram and I having issues.
Current system specs before the upgrade:

AMD XP3200 cpu
PNY 6800GT 256 mb graphics card
Corsair ram 512mb PC3200 x 2
Motherboard Asus A7V600
Windows XP sp2
Western Digital 40gb hard drive x 2
TDK CD-RW
Pioneer DVD Burner
Floppy
400w power supply

Everything has worked fine up till now.
The Asus motherboard does allow 2 sticks of PC-3200 ram.
When I put the new sticks of Corsair 1gb PC3200 x 2 sticks in the computer boots fine and performs as expected. However when I try to run a game i.e. Prince of Persia Sands of Time, the game shuts down and says that it has had an unexpected shutdown with no reason given.
I also try running an Aquamark test. This also shuts down stating that it could not access memory at a certain location.
Now with this information I tried putting the ram in different dimm slots, same result. I also tried the single stick method with success. I tested each stick in this manner, both worked properly. I also preformed a Prime 95 test for a short period of time with no errors. The Prime 95 tests were preformed with both with single and both sticks. So this leads me to believe that something else hindering the proper access or usage of the ram. What could be the problem? Please help!! Thanks for looking. :D

i suspect something in the bios - with regards to ram - is set wrong.

Thanks, I will look. My problem with the bios is that I am not very fluent in what the proper settings should be for the new ram.

If there's an option to load defaults or optimal settings, do it. Also, try taking out the older stick and leaving the newer one and seeing if it crashes the games. If it does, then I suspect it's faulty.

I don't have the older and newer sticks of ram in at the same time.

Are the bios/drivers up to date for the mobo/vid card?

I believe the bios is current.
Not sure about the mobo drivers. Will check that as soon as I get home.
Thanks
