I found a pretty cool site that uses Google Maps to show you where registered users are from. It's just something cool so register now and find out where your friends are! I just set this thing up, but I don't feel like adminin.' If anyone wants to admin, email me and I'll give you the password.

Yes, I used to only post on PD as Minion, but this place looks a little more active. The solution: Do both.

Huh? Well the map itself contains the entire world...

Yeah, they most likely could do every city for every country if they could figure out a way to split the cities up. As far as I know, there aren't very many cities with area codes. I think they should just do the street numbers, or if you feel safe from phychos or something, your actual address. Maybe lat&lon if you know them.

By the way NemeSiS, welcome to the DBB.

yeah googlemaps has visual data (and the maps i assume are just silhouettes of that - as the coastlines are quite detailed), but they only have actual MAP data (places and roads) for a few countrys.

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=50.90303 ... 8467&hl=en
take a look at that and it should give a good representation, note all the citys marked in the UK, but the surrounding countrys have nothing marked.
they tell us this will be gradually remedied as they gradually add data for more countrys

Wow, no one in Seattle yet. I wonder which State has the wierest names. I can only think of a few names in Washington that are not Native American. You would be hard pressed to beat Enemclaw, Snoqualmee, or Puallulp.
And I didn't want to feel left out in the welcome wagon, so I only talk to myself when :? .yeah.

That's because we Seattle residents just lurk on the map.

Also, you forgot to mention Snohomish, Wenatchee, Walla Walla, Tukwila, Issaquah, Sammamish, Mukilteo, Okanogan, Kahlotus, Washtucna, and Palouse.

But, beware... Wyoming can compete on the "strange place names" scale.

We've got some weird ones in Florida, too: Thonotosassa (say that five times fast), Weeki Wachi, Tallahassee, Wimauma, Yeehaw Junction, Christmas, Cassadega, Howie-in-the-Hills (no, really!).

It's a bit weird actually. The town I live in is very built up and large but very green, lots of trees and wide open spaces. There's countryside all the way around it.

But my area (Lancashire + Merseyside + Greater Manchester) is one of the most built up areas in northern Britain.

So to answer your question.. "kinda" :P
