Only reason why im not on 56k cus SBC finally had the nads to offer broadband at an affordable $14 a month. Oh yea, and I barely got broadband at the beginning of this year. They finally realized there would be some customers out here considering we now have a booming population since, oh 10-15 years ago.
$40 a month that Comcast offers is outrageous.

We still pay phone by the minute here, even for internet access. So close to anyone has broadband here, it's just cheaper.

When the school's wireless access point goes down, I use dialup as a backup.

been highspeed since 1999... had a few months of dialup between then and now. I like to call them "the months of hell"

I use Dial-up as a backup if my highspeed goes down.

I havenâ??t used 56krap since July of 2004. COMCAST broadband 7Mbps over 56k dialup, hell Iâ??m not complaining. Just wish I had that speed when I was still playing D3.

Why yes, of course I do. I think it goes really well with my LP stereo and 8-track deck, not to mention my Polaroid camera.

Don't use it now, and I never have. We started Internet access at home with Comcast in 2001, and other than that, I've been on a blazing-fast campus network.

3.0/256 cable here. Currently Mediacom has the only highspeed service where I live; Verizon has DSL out here but only the slower 768/128 service. I'm hoping they expand their service area so I can get their 3.0/768 DSL soon, since it'd be faster and cheaper (by about $20 a month!) than what I currently have.

I just got DSL in January. I was on dial up from 12/95 until then. I didn't change to DSL for the speed, I was tired of the disconnects.

7Mb down, 384k up, 34.99 till May then 45.99. I'll most likely go to FIOS then 5.0/2.0 39.99.

I probably used dial-up in some capacity as late as 2000 or 2001, when I had to worry about exceeding 600 MB/month traffic quotas. First time I started using DSL with in mid-1999 though.
Things have improved somewhat since, although there is still a long way to go before it is up to scratch compared to other countries.

Strange Comcast says they offer 6mbps. But I seem to be hitting 7mbps, does any one else move that quick.

yeah i have done net speed tests (such as cnet) and found speeds between 5500 kbps - 6800 kbps. so, i would say im doing alright. comcast has been good to me so far!

Not gonna disagree with that - it's a pretty lame service when you can blow your entire month's limit in one or two hours.
