what is the IDEAL left wing state?
this is a serious topic, and I'm not talking centrist left.
I really would like to know what the perfect left wing state would be. it seems to me that it would be a total socialist anarchy state.
you want government to run your lives and provide all your needs.
you dont want to hold people accountable for thier actions by evidence of the American Criminal Liberties Union.
you want to abolish the military and regularly trash anyone who has or does serve.
you want religion totally out of society and not just goverment but in private live, by Evidence of the Anti Christain Liberties Union sueing a California man for a christmas display that he had on his front lawn, saying it was a distraction and nusance to the neighborhood.
I know this sounds like a dig against the left but it isnt, my wife and I were discussing this the other day and neither one of us could give a good answer. I REALLY would like to know what does the "radical" left stand for and what would be their perfect state? so I ask my fellow DBBer's what is the perfect leftwing state?

Ok, now I can respond a little bit better. I'll just address the points, in my opinion, as you have listed them.
*The first two tie in together so here. I certainly don't want the govt running my life and providing my needs. Funny thing is, the govt plays a bigger role now in your life than any previous administration ever thought possible. They can now look at anything of yours, at any time, without telling you.
*I don't understand not holding people accountable so explain better and I'll respond.
*Ummm, what do you think the war protests are about? It's not about "babykillers" or anything like that, I for one, do not think and Iraqi life is worth more than a US soldier, we want them OUT OF HARMS WAY, why is that so difficult to understand. I don't think advocating needless death is more patriotic to the soldiers than wanting safe at home.
*You know by know I do not like religion, but it plays a role in our society. It can stay private, but keep it out of the public role. No schools, govts, that sort of thing. It shouldn't keep you from practicing so I'm not sure why that's a big deal.
To me, sounds like you and your wife need to open your eyes and realize that your party is not that good. Neither are the Democrats. Instead of blaming the "left" think of positive things to fix.

The military goes in harms way overseas rather then to it comming over here. It is not needless death if the next attack here in the states is prevented and does not claim many lives. What is the count now for Iraq? 2020ish? Everyone of those brave souls is worth it if it will prevent an attack over here even if it would to pull a number out of the air "100". That is their way of life to protect the US.Zuruck wrote:*Ummm, what do you think the war protests are about? You can not put a price on the sacrifice of one who gives his life service to his country. They just know it is for the greater good and hope for the best. Read my fallen Marine post in the Cafe if you want to see what goes on after the news reports get done every day.
Those in the military know the price and pay it. Tis better to fight over "there" then to worry about if the next car bomb is going to go off on your block.
*Zuruck not trying to harsh you by any means you have every right to speak your mind. Its just been a long month and sometimes no matter who is right or wrong its just a crying a$$ shame thats so many of my fellow service men are giving the ultimate price each day.
Cuda i don't even think of things in such simple terms of left/right, i can't answer your question. Add some extra axis though and i can bite.
it sounds like you think LEFT automatically means AUTHORITARIAN - because you mentioned the government controlling everything. But this is not something the LEFT wants, it's something AUTHORITARIANS want. AUTHORITARIANS can be either left or right.
Your "hippys that want the government to control everything" deosn't hold water because hippys are leftist-liberals. But what you are painting as "the left" is perhaps actually LEFT-AUTHORITARIAN.
But comparing it to all the other 1st world nations the American center is skewed to the AUTHORITARIAN and RIGHT sides, not liberal (nor left).
so you've got that backwards.
re-reading the thread it seems birdseye already summed up why i think this topic is flawed before it even started:
Ask me about what a perfect Liberal-Left state would be, and it may be a better question. But it would help to perhaps define all 4 extreme corners.
i don't even know what Left and Right inherently mean on a political axis when it's the only axis. Such narrow terms makes the entire exersize pointless to me because i care more about Authoritarian/Liberal issues than i do about Left/Right issues - and with all of this "the left is liberal, or the left is authoritarian" stuff it has confused the issue to the point that when you talk i don't know what left and right are in your mind.

By Global terms? yeah maybe, if you compare it to 3rd world warring nations.TheCope wrote:The funny thing is American centrist is pretty liberal in global terms... so even our righties are homo-loving hippies.

the Authoritarian/Liberal and Left/Right scales are 2 completely seperate scales.Birdseye wrote:Perpetuating the catagorization of millions of unique people into 2 neat piles is a bad, bad thing.
