I just happened to catch this thing live. I may not know a lot about flying, but I think it's safe to say that this guy has balls.

Amazing. Notice how he cut the engines so the props weren't spinning? I am surprised there were no sparks from the under carriage.

private pilots almost always cut their props to prevent them from causing any unwanted rolling or pitching while the plane is skidding on the ground
probably there were alot of sparks, we just couldnt see them.
unlike the jetblue incident, that plane was doing at least 170 MPH and weighed in at what........ couple 100 tons?
that little bonanza weighs in at a mere couple tons and was probabaly doing a easy 80-100 MPH.
just an observation..

Nah, I expect it would be a bell helicopter he skid landed.

Err. Since when have aeroplane parts been made out of steel? Jebus - think about it! Undercarriages are made from aluminium alloy so they can't make sparks. There will be some steel components in them, like axles, mounting brackets and a few sundry bits and pieces, but nothing ferrous to speak of.
Think bullets make sparks when they hit things too? LMFAO.

And they're designed not to spark for a damn good reason. Imagine if fuel leaked out while they were landing like that. That wouldn't be good at all.

/me thinks excessive friction + poorly sealed tarmac = sparks?

Dude, its not going to spark. Why do you think people make aluminum fan blades for hazardous locations?

Can't find video
And to clarify, comercial aircraft landing gear are PRIMARILY steel. Not sure about a Bonanza's.

Page you've linked to has alot of stories, not one of them is a link to the video in question though.

Maybe if you had looked within a day of me posting it, you would have seen it.
For any you missed it,
here's the video, plus an interview with one of the passengers, from a local news station. I've edited my first post accordingly.

Good job by the pilot, but not really anything out of the ordinary. There probably wasn't even much structural damage to the plane.
I didn't see any foam.

wonder what the sound was like inside. i would guess excrutiatingly loud. kudos to the pilot, but i've pulled it off in flight sims before, so i am sure i can do it in real life. (hehe)
