Okay all of your Califest D3'ers, and D3'ers from all over. It's that time again, for the biggest, baddest, and most fun LAN for 2004. Califest 2k4, is coming at ya once again.... I've secured a Venue, Hotel/Conf room combo that is 1 mile away from San Francisco International Airport. There is free Shuttle Service 24 hrs a day. Here are some of the dates i'm looking at, please feel free to provide input.

Ideal Date and 1st Choice:
May 28-30 May 31st being Memorial Day, and a solid 3 day weekend for most.

umm as for the rest of the dates not sure, cuz i'm not sure when the Chicago fest is. Still have to find out that date. The conference room holds 150 people, with a IHOP right next door. I set it up, with no curefew!!! Image Friday 5pm-Sunday 5pm, non stop...Anyways, MOD's of this forum please Sticky this thread, so I can get peoples input for best dates.

Hate to be a downer, but, it's not going to be the same without John. John is the guy I really looked forward to seeing every year... such a cool cat.

so last weekend of May is looking pretty good so far? Image Indeed no LAN will be the same for me, knowing that I'll never see big John again. I'll have a moment of silence once we get everyone in the room Friday Night.

well, I figure you have a small caravan gaining strength as you go.

You'll have a stop in Everett, Tacoma, and then Portland. Image

I figure I'll have plenty of cash before then.

How many people are gonna be with us? I figure seven people at the most, so the best bet would be an rental RV?

That's the weekend after I graduate. I was worried it was going to be the same weekend, so it's all good. Hopefully I'll make it again this year. Image

I can drive some of the 1500 km distance (each way ..). ... As a primary plan, I hope to swing my Mileage and accomodations on a work related Travel expense, to Roseburg Oregon at least... with a possible diversion to Klamath Falls ...

... But (as Fernoidal knows...), we need additional sources of Funding to boost our Loonie on the long Pilgrimage... Fancier Motels and all... More food and beer, ...

And we also really need drivers that won't fall asleep after 20 minutes at the wheel, or panic in rush hour on the I5... . So someone start planning, .... I can drive 4 people max: That's me plus four more..

!.... Ohh I can smell the californian air already .. !

Ah yes. That fresh California air. Gotta love it. =)

I'm ok with the proposed dates...

what are room rates looking like?

Posted: Mon Dec 29, 2003 6:46 pm
by The_Rock
room rates for this San Fran Venue would be 50 a night plus tax. Double Queen rooms, or Single whatever you prefer. Not to mention a 24hour IHOP at the location. Plus the no curefew thing is also awesome.

I really would like to check out California. I'm gonna' put this on my calendar and see if I can make it happen.

That monday, I may (or not, depending on the time) be able to show some people a little around san francisco. So if anyone books a flight, I would leave monday evening or something, so you can see a little of cali before you go.

Rock, is this is a hotel with the LAN room on site? If so, that would rule. Those are always the best fests, the ones with the hotel & lanroom being the same place.

Birds

this is the location i was telling you about, Hotel/Conf room location. Everything in one, NO CUREFEW, IHOP @ LOCATION, FREE SHUTTLE, AND CONF ROOM ALL IN ONE... not to mention great room rates for the weekend. 50+tax for double queen room Image

My Mom's b-day is the 28th but I would still go 8)

From what I read hear you have a different location this year from last year.

I would hope that I could drag 1/2 of [TA] up there again but its way too soon to say.

Rock- you ever going to update the Califest web site with all the pics from last year?
