LCD HDTV Question

My Dad recently got a Viewsonic 30" LCD HDTV. We have this enclosed entertainment center that has doors that slide out and close over it. It has about a foot of space in the back, but it doesn't seem to be getting very good airflow, because it gets really warm back there. Anyway, my Dad has said that it has been cutting off on him recently, usually at the end of the day. I haven't personally seen it do this, but I suggested that he put a small fan behind it to get some air flowing through the back of the entertainment center. Is overheating usually a concern with these things or is there something else that I should be worried about?

in a word: YES!!!!

lcd and dlp tv's use really scary lamps of doom, that get REALLY HOT... and the internal fans on these things are usually shoddy (if they exist at all, check out the cheapos!)... anyway, you wanna get som GOOD airflow going... the lamps are expensive, and since the manual you prolly through away with the box probably contains a warning imdemnifying themselves of waranty concerns over the lamp (and an extended service won't cover a consumable resource), nip this problem in the bud. !!! :)
