Re: OVERLOAD Playable Demo
1) You're still here? I can't believe this forum still exists. You guys forming a monastery or new religion or something? 2) This demo was extremely fun, brought me right back to downloading the ~200KB D1 demo for the first time in the 90's. Whatever skills I had are completely gone, was fumbling ...

Well the way I look at it, I'd rather have a government that expounds a trust in God than a trust in the Government. One only needs look at the old Soviet Union to understand. Which God? For there are many. Thread's too long, didn't read. Just wondering if anybody managed to answer Flip's question ...

Re:
I don't think unjustified self-convincing is nearly so universal as you suppose -- there are those who approach debates in good faith, who are interested in learning and growing and testing their own ideas. That's a small minority. For just about everyone, their agenda comes first. It's unconscious ...

Moving even a few people away from a wrong position... I think you just nailed it. I think that's what these debates are all about - the subject matter is secondary. Convincing someone that our idea is right strengthens our own belief in that idea, and helps quelch our own nagging doubts. Because ...

http://fora.tv/2009/02/17/Michael_Ruse_on_Darwinism#Evolution_vs_Creationism_A_Cultural_Debate We don't need yet another debate on evolution or creationism. I wanna chime in on the \"irreducible complexity\" argument: Eyes do have reducible complexity, there are plenty of more basic forms of eye out there. But this is not the main point, I think there are two more general facts that people miss: 1) attacking science or scientific ideas this way doesn't ...

It already exists. Blasteroids uses the same energy and shield power-up graphics that Descent does, and features three ship types... a small fast one, large fat one, and one in between.

Actually, this brings up an interesting solution to trying to balance large outdoor and confined indoor regions: make ships take major damage when they smack into stuff, and you can crank up the speed while keeping things sane indoors. Outdoor areas would be pretty exciting if you ...

As an Xbox-only owner, the appeal of picking up a machine that will play PS3, PS2, and PSone games is pretty inviting. Then again, I'm guessing that for casual gamers (i.e. me), it won't matter. Any system will have enough games, and enough of them will be cross-platform that it won't really matter ...

Impressive for one year playing, but I'll be a critic for this poor kid too... he needs to use his ear more, to keep from bending the strings out of tune. His intonation makes his playing almost unlistenable, even though there's some really good stuff happening there too. At 13, though, he can take ...

Vader, before you get all creamy over this, buried somewhere in Charles Duelfer's report is his sentiment that Iraqs WMD's being taken to Syria cannot be ruled out nor that once sanctions were lifted that Saddam would not reconstitute his WMD programs. WinXP SP2, GF4 MX440 p.o.s.
