Ok, gotcha ... I think I'll save my money and do just that. I should be able to come up with $700 to $800 in a few months. I have a GF 8800 GTS 512 video board and actually I have a relatively new 2TB WD2002FYPS disk I'll keep. So I need to replace the following: - Mainboard - CPU - PSU - RAM ...

I've been looking on Ebay but I don't really know what to look for ... that is, I don't know what would be significantly faster than the existing processor. I don't mind a used proc at all in fact, I'd prefer it so I don't spend a lot of money. Opteron huh?

Need upgrade CPU / Socket 939

I have a DFI Lanparty SLI-DR NF4 with an AMD Athlon 64 FX-60. CPU out-of-the-box runs at 2.61 Ghz.

Yeah, this has been a fantastic CPU and was worth the $1K I paid for it new but I'd like a little more speed without replacing the whole box ... Do I have any faster CPU options here?

Thanks,
D

VC++ 2005 Static Library

Anybody know how to create one? I have been struggling all morning trying to figure out how to create a static library. There is not static library project template and I can't find references to static library creation in the help. Project requirements dictate that I cannot use DLLs or .NET stuff ...

I assume you are speaking of the 3000 and the 2600? That could be the prob since I did this all as fast as I could. I will take my time tonight and do it right w/AS5.

As far as the 2500 ... mebbe its just plain dead?

Cleaning House, Need CPU Diagnosis Info

I'm trying to clean house and get rif of all these hundreds of PC parts lying around in my garage. To assist in the process of determining which parts were functional and which were toast I set up an open case PC system. This allows me to get a good working PC configuration running then quickly swap ...

No, I can't even log in to download them. In fact, I never even get to the post install setup. The most telling symptom is that right before I would expect the graphical login screen, the monitor goes out of frequency range.

Fliptw the problem is that when I install FC6 and it goes to reboot/config the first time, the X server fails to start. I think I can fix this without so much effort after all. Apparently when I boot up FC6 it sets my monitor to an out-of-range frequency. Mobo+CPU Options

I am looking for a good low cost dual core motherboard/cpu combo. For example, I would prefer a lower end dual core CPU and ...
