Re: Descent 3 Linux Files
Reinstalled linux again, found the culprit. The package I installed that broke descent3 was libgl1-mesa-dev:i386. Now trying to figure out how to run descent3 even with that package installed... Also, there's no sound :/ The sound problem is pretty easy to fix: put "padsp" before "descent3" in your ...

Re: Descent 3 Linux Files
I have no idea what happened, but I had to reinstall Linux for other reasons - and now descent3 is working. Even on the new install, I was getting that same error until I installed the libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 package, which I installed because it was required for Steam as explained here: https ...

Re: Descent 3 Linux Files
I think it's time for me to update the Linux Files and HOWTO.
It's only been what, 15 years?
Geez I'm old.
Bump for great justice. Will update when it's done.

Probably need to make a symlink to your current libgl.so library. I had the same problem when trying to install it on my computer (with Ubuntu). The library is there, but D3 is looking for it to be named \"/usr/lib/libGL.so\" and the real file's name is \"/usr/lib/libGL.so.185.18.36\" or something ...

I ended up totally wiping my Wine installation and redoing it clean. Probably a good thing 'cause now I've got MS Word 2007 and MS Excel 2007 working perfectly (or so it seems so far). Any how ... Redid my Descent 3 install, but this time with the Loki files and without Wine. Works good so ...

I agree with Kilarin and some of the long-time players (being one myself). You won't get better by not playing, or playing guys who suck more than you... I played a stint of multiplayer for a few months (shortly after Munk came up with the Level checksum fix in Linux) and I sucked at first, but the ...

Updated the How-To finally! Hosted the pack on my server. It contains only the Linux-specific files of Descent 3, you still need to buy a copy! This is for the people who own the Windows version, cannot find the Linux version, and want to play it natively without wine. Linux-Specific Descent 3 pack ...

Good god, after all this time?? Wow... I don't know what to say. You can download the Linux-specific files from my website, I packaged them with a how-to because the Loki version is no longer available. The How-to is outdated, I'm working on that as we speak. http://jeffhendricks.net/D3-linux-files ...

Re:
I'm gonna necro this. Here's what I have to contribute: I had the problem with D3 not finding my joystick. I took at guess at a solution and it worked: Ubuntu puts your stick in /dev/input/.... D3 looks for it in /dev. sudo ln -s /dev/input/js0 /dev/js0 solved the problem. I'm gonna re-necro your ...

The hardware is NOT compatible with a regular desktop card.
However, if it still runs, you can use it as an \"extended\" desktop with a piece of software called Synergy.

Re:
By the way FunkyStickman. Do you still have that program working that makes d3 linux show all the online games at once in the online game browser? I kinda lost it. Does it still work? Yes, Munk's checksum workaround adds that functionality. It's around here, and if you can't find it, I'll have the ...
