I've downloaded the hi-res textures from the Descent Relived site, and made the changes to my .ini file - however, they don't seem to load up...I've put the full unzipped file in the data folder of my d2x-xl install. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I'm currently using the Mac OS X version, 1.9 ...

The reason you can't switch from the Gauss to the Vulcan is because you probably have Smart Weapon Switch enabled in Gameplay Options. Turn it off, and you'll be able to switch between them fine. Sorry to report this but I think I have another bug... The game seems to crash when I exit Level 4 in D2. Can you reproduce this, simX? I'll try to use a fresh copy to see if a reinstall works. Thanks for the help, everyone - it turns out that once I took my d2x.ini file out of my Data folder and into the root level of my D2X folder, the textures worked! Go figure.

I still can't get the custom menu screen, but it's no big problem to me.

In the meantime, does simX still have older builds of the OS X versions around? I remember the 1.5.147 build worked very well for me.

If I remember correctly, this is caused by the new way that textures are rendered in a relatively recent version, and thus has made any past saved games incompatible. You can sort of salvage your saved games, though, but you have to beat the level in its weird black walls state, and then loading ...
