Just FYI: Bug fixed in 1.12.80. Now I'm just trying to figure out some new CTD (crash to desktop) where the sound loops and a WinXP error pop-up is generated. :( .59 was more stable but there's gotta be something I'm doing to cause this instability, most likely tied to some advanced configuration ...

Updating .59 to the latest (.76) broke it.
Since I just reg'd over at the D2X-XL forums a couple hours ago and have yet to receive the confirmation email that will let me actually use my account, I figured this is the next best place to post this. :P I extracted the files and tried to run the same .exe as always but it errors with: \"The ...

Re:
Yup, ConnectionName=Direct TCP~IP Try forcing D3 to use the correct internal IP address with -useip <addr> (use the same internal IP you forwarded the ports to). Hmmm, when I add -useip 192.168.1.x (the same IP I have the server instance running on) to the CL switches in the Setup/Misc, trying to ...

No, not technically, as they aren't identical posts, and I'm also not starting new threads on the same topic in multiple forums, which is what cross posting actually is. It was unintentional anyway, just was replying to what was being discussed in each thread individually, and I guess I happened to ...

To be honest, I'm not sure IC would really benefit from the latest greatest uber graphics. Oh I wasn't talking about graphics. I think the screenshots in the other thread look totally awesome. I was more thinking about the tools available for modding, but you're right, cross-platform and open ...

Yes, I'm manually setting ports, which is what gets me... I have the server running the ones I noted, which are each one above the defaults, so that my client game is left to the defaults. Since it's not showing up at .cx I'm wondering if there's some issue with the broadcast of my server, which is ...

Way to join my own dedicated server?
I have the server on ports 2093 and 21043 and using a separate cache directory, but when I fire up Descent 3 and go to multiplayer, I don't see it under Local Games, nor if I try to 'Search for Games At' either the internal or external IP address of my machine, and not even 127.0.0.1 returns any ...

No problems running D3 on XP 32-bit here, but I'm not running integrated graphics. Integrated are notoriously bad for trying to game. If you have a desktop, you can get a pretty cheap peripheral videocard these days that would be plenty powerful for Descent3. Just check if your rig has an AGP or PCI ...

Which connection type and model to use?
PXO is dead, but I've seen server config examples using the PXO instead of TCP~IP setting. Which is correct for setting up a server to show up at the .cx tracker site or does it matter?
Also, model should not be Peer-2-Peer, right?
Thanks!

No mp until I get the controls sorted and the sp campaign done again. Why is mouse control so much harder to configure in D3, especially given that it works just fine in D1/D2? Even using FlightSim (there's no option to un-invert the vertical axis though?) I still can't get it to feel close to right ...

aye, i've got that working now. thanks for the help. i think i'll force some AA too in NVidia control panel to help with the jaggies =) still having issues trying to get my mouse to a comfortable setting though. mouselook was handled much easierly in D1&D2, especially via D2X-XL. In D3 I can get it ...

Hmm, if I try setting it higher than 1024x768 it resets it to 640x480. Even though my display is 1680x1050 it won't let me run 1280x960. :? Also the mouse movement is really jerky. If I can get the aiming and the display resolution fixed I'll be doing A-okay. I'll be messing with -mlooksens ...

wow thanks guys, much appreciated! =) So Direct3D has better visuals than OpenGL or they're identical renderers and just both available for greater card variety support? edit: Hmm, I'm having the menus issue so I guess I'll try Direct3D. Also, seems to still be running 640x480 even when I set it to ...

Do I want to run OpenGL or Direct3D? Also, list of switches?
For Descent 3 (which I just bought (again since I sold my old copy) that I just got in the mail from eBay (woot!) I am curious if I should be using my videocard's OpenGL or Direct3D display setting. It's an NVidia 8800GT. Also, is there a list of Descent 3 command line switches anywhere? I'm pretty ...

How come there were never AI control'd ships in Descent 1-3?
Curious if there was a specific reason why no one ever made multiplayer bots for the Descent games (unless I'm forgetting something?). Always did appreciate the ability to play a game offline and still be able to play the multiplayer gametypes against bots. Was it simply due to difficulty in ...

Energy not replenishing in energy center?
Hey guys, just installed Descent 2 and DX2-XL for some nostalgic gaming. :) Have a curiosity though: My energy bar (the white one beneath the blue shield bar) doesn't seem to fill up when I'm in an energy center area (the yellow square textured area with the electricity sound and lightning bolts ...
