Help! Trichording problem

Only in 6DoF would this be a problem: My key layout requires that if I want to trichord, I have to hold keys A+F+B at the same time. I invite any Windows XP users to try that right now--you'll probably get a loud \"BEEP\" from your speakers after about two seconds. Not only that, but if you try to ...

WinXP. The layout is changed, but D3 doesn't accept it. I think it takes direct input and just assumes that it's QWERTY, but it's not.

Alternate keyboard

I'm using a left-hand Dvorak keyboard, but D3 takes the input as standard QWERTY. This means that when I try to type messages in game chat, they look an awful lot like

Joker: Tkredku dth kkuh ckh kytcytc ycth!

Does D3 support alternate layouts? How can I change the input?

Joystick dead zone

Just bought a new Saitek ST90 stick (cause my Sidewinder wore out :-( RIP) and there's a big annoying dead zone around the center of the stick's field. I checked the stick in Windows XP's calibratior and it's getting signal and movement there just fine, but D3 just isn't using it--how do I tell D3 ...

Nope, that's not it. Good music, though. The song I'm looking for had a vocalist with a bit higher voice, with faster music, the chorus went something like

Everyone lies!
(everyone everyone)
Everyone lies!
(everyone everyone)

Name that tune

A few months ago there was a gameplay video posted on YouTube. It was about 8 minutes long and it featured good D3 action in Varicose Veins. I don't know who made that video, and I can't find it anymore, but I want to know what music was playing in the background. I've had the song stuck in my head ...

I think I tried that one already..it seems like Windows' definition of \"Hung\" for processes is not up to my standards--I think it only kills apps in certain contexts which don't seem to include CPU usage.

That is, Windows is not well hung.

Whoops, sorry I wasn't nearly clear enough. I need a program that will recognize the out-of-control process and automatically kill it. After that, serverdoc will automatically revive it, and I won't have to touch my server at all. Process Tamer and Process Lasso define such processes by CPU usage ...

Process Killer

I'm running a game server that too frequently passes an error which causes the process to run my CPU (a 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon) to 100% usage, and stay there. During normal activity, the process only runs about 20%, and isn't a problem. I run a program called serverdoc (http://www.serverdoc.com) to ...

Online multiplayer perfomance, client-side prediction?

I there any way to enable or increase the client-side prediction for D3's online play? Right now I think I'm seeing only what the server's data packets are telling me, because I see other players' ships blinking around not looking smooth at all, and it's pretty tough to track their motion so's I can ...

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my USB drivers (per microsoft's advice) and my computer bluescreened. Two days later I've nuked and repaved, and now the stick works fine. Problem solved, the hard way. Thanks for all the help though.

Doesn't appear to be..XP asks me if I'd like to install the new-found hardware, and when it looks for the drivers it finds nothing. The Device manager reports the stick under \"other devices\". Will it just work in D3 anyway? How do I calibrate it, even?

Sidewinder Precision Pro USB WinXP Driver

Got my used stick in the mail today, no CD. Can't find the drivers online. Any help?

Also, the stick is a bit loose. I've got maybe a millimeter wiggle on each axis. Is that bad?

Nice post Bub. I'm inclined to agree, since I literally ripped my E3D apart and found platic at every turn. Funny story though--it works perfectly now. I unplugged and reconnected all of the connections, pretty much just for the hell of it. It continued to stutter for a bit, but the suddenly started ...

Ok. A screwdriver, two knives, pliars, scissors, nail clippers, and lots of cursing later...my attempt to inspect the innards of the E3D have not helped my problems, and left it mostly non-functional. Again. Barring some sort of miraculous advice for my E3D, it's time for a new joystick. I've seen ...

Re:

As far as the banking goes, my guess is that you actually have the throttle bound to banking, not your twist. [It happens to a lot of people; you'd be surprised.] Center the throttle so its axis doesn't get auto-selected, and re-bind the bank controls. Bingo. /me dons a dunce hat. This brings up a ...

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro issues

I've got the Logitech E3D Pro Joystick, and it's always been terribly dodgy. Right now there are a number of problems playing D3. Mouse, or Joystick?

I'm a born-again Descent gamer--played #1 when I was young using keyboard only controls (which is absurd now). Since then I've discovered traditional First-Person shooters and used the mouse religiously to aim. Descent and this community now poses a good question, though--mouse, or joystick ...
