Re: Overload Kickstarter

Lighting and textures look a bit ordinary for the moment, but I was surprised just how much like Descent this managed to look for a game running on an engine so much more modern. Very impressed with the idea behind level design - I'd never have thought of going down that route but it seems obvious ...

The whole point of 8-bit art involves structure, though. Breaking it up just makes it look like you're trying to make art in Paint and not doing so well.

Re: 16bit game art style

I have an interest in pixelated 2d game art. Most will argue it's not a real art style and has no monetary value in this day and age. Who cares. I like it. It is a recognised type of art. Monetary value depends on how you use it more than anything else. There's still commercial value in just about ...

In D3, MD is really the weapon of choice ahead of Fusion, even though that's a good weapon in its own right.

It may not kill as quickly as a fully charged triple fusion blast, but it doesn't have to, because you can't dodge it.

To shoot a smart misslie, you only need the skill to push a button. Which is different from fusion how ? This is not about shooting, it's about hitting. To kill someone with a smart missile, you need to know exactly where to place it, because good players will dodge it otherwise. Much like D3 ...

Fusion in D3 is simply much easier to use because of travel time, not catching on walls as easily, higher frequency and other contributing factors.

I can't remember how damage compared between games, but it was ignored as a competitive weapon in D1 and D2 for a reason. It was awful.

Game development still being a fairly new industry, the biggest problem there is long hours; i.e., unreasonable project management. Depends on the company how much you'll enjoy the job.
