Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
with the grip sensor overridden sometimes the stick can thrash around fairly violently and could damage itself if one is careless. It's true! I was sending several commands at once to the stick with the sensors blocked to demonstrate its capabilities and it would have shook itself off the desk if I ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Yes, I understood what you were saying, and anyway I did swab the axes sensor while I had the stick open. I believe the axes sensor is clean, as the signal is clean and smooth when I move the stick without blocking the grip sensor, or when I disconnect FFB power entirely. However, when I turn on ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
By jittering, I don't mean the shaking from FFB. Even when completely centered, holding the stick steady, no forces. There seems to be noise on all the axes, including throttle and twist, when I cover the photosensor. Take my fingers off the photosensor, and everything quiets down. This happens ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
The trigger switch is different, and I wasn't able to replace it yet. ... I noticed that axes have some jittering with FFB on. It's noticeable when you alternately cover/uncover the IR sensor on the grip. Could this be a wiring issue, interference perhaps? You might try some contact cleaner on the ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Does your Teensy blink rapidly during normal use? Mine blinks quickly, but I don't know if that's normal, or a sign that something is off. The light on my Teensy only blinks when force feedback commands are being sent to the stick. I use a program called Forcetest to send test commands (FYI - you ...

Thanks Ace, all working now. By the way, I don't think I ever showed you guys my finished adapter. http://www.descentbb.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=458&sid=f810f6e5642b71ad6150a6de41e01420 http://www.descentbb.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=459&sid=f810f6e5642b71ad6150a6de41e01420 http ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Okay so it's been a little while so I'm sorry if this has already been covered but I'm trying to get my sidewinder FFB wheel working with the prototype wheel firmware. If there's no force feedback I'm okay with that. Does the teensy need to wired differently? I have it wired for the FFB pro joystick ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Interesting thread, the author says he has captured the USB descriptor of a Sidwinder FFB wheel himself, wonder if he still has the data. Later on in the thread someone posted this: janus@Gigabob:22:48:13$ sudo lsusb -vv -s 3:3 [sudo] password for janus: Bus 003 Device 003: ID 045e:0034 Microsoft ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
I'm wondering if you'd post a photo of the pins on the DA-15 plug for the FFB Wheel. I've never been able to find a pinout description of that controller, and I'm wondering if my modded board design would already support it (electrically, anyway). Thanks. I've attached a photo of the connector. Let ...

http://www.descentbb.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=396&sid=6b0e07f84cefcfb8a4f55a88ca9948e4 Seems like you have the legs of this capacitor connected (shorted) to each other, and nothing connected to the other side. From the diagram on the google code page, it looks like you're supposed to ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
With the test program, I think the LED did a similar thing for me too. My friend has the joystick right now so I can't check for sure. Check what the LED does during a game too. It could be (guessing here, I'm no expert) that the teensy is getting the signal from the PC to send FFB events, but the ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
BlueMoon, what game did you try? Also, there's a light on the teensy that should blink whenever force feedback effects are being sent to the joystick. Was it blinking? To test force feedback I use this program: Force Test Check one of the boxes for an effect, and make sure your hand is on the ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Just got the whole thing working last night. Very cool! It works beautifully. I still have the Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel if anyone wants me to do tests on it, I don't know if there is still a future plan to add support for it.

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Hi! Just finished making my own adapter on my breadboard. I'm making it for a friend, and he's the one who has the Sidewinder. The only thing I have to test it on at this point is a Sidewinder 3D Pro Plus, which showed up as a joystick, but not a working one - not really surprising, it's not a ...
