Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Unfortunately I can't offer any guidance. It's way above my pay grade. They were reverse engineering the ffb stuff. It's particular strings of code that must also be timed right. How they figure that out is way beyond me.

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Hope dwindles, but it's never gone. The wheel wasn't even considered until one man took up the challenge. Just need someone else to follow in the footsteps now.
I think it would be easier to just continue the current project than to attempt what you propose...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Like 3 years later I'm reading again this thread. I have a Sidewinder Gamepad, does this code work on it or it's exclusive to the Joystick? If the latter, does an usb adapter exist for the gamepad? I'm assuming the gameport protocol is the same for the gamepad, is it not? As far as I know, no one ...

Hi guys I've built the adapter to reactivate my old Sidewinder FF Pro (FCC ID: C3KJ4), but I don't get any FF... Just quoting my own posting... Finally I've got it woking.. I've - Installed the com port drivers from teensy (don't know if that was one of the reasons or not) - tried several hex files ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
Hi there, hopefully someone is still on this thread, since the last time something was posted about the reverse engineering of the FFB Wheel in which the name Cal was mentioned, is way back in 2014. It was actually Skoo who was doing most of the work on the wheel. But unfortunately I cannot find ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
So I added the, "optional", caps and got the light on solid and the motors are live, but still not quite perfect yet. Any advice? To be honest, you're not going to achieve perfection. There are no profiles, we can't adjust the force levels, it's a pain to switch between different sidewinder models ...

Re: Reverse Engineering the Force Feedback Pro
There has been talk in the past about the possibility that the Force Feedback Pro which does not have a fan may have problems when using this adapter. I have been thinking about it for a while now and decided to try to get to the bottom of things. Is there actually a problem and if so, what can be ...

Just so I'm clear on what you have uploaded. I see one file is version r54. Do you know what version the other is? I solved my problem with the shift button (button 9) not working the same on USB as it does on gameport, Saturday after looking at the code for a couple hours and tinkering. I can now report a partial success. The issue was a LUFA USB2Serial .inf file that had the same USB ID (used the Arduino micro in a previous project). However, although I now get a device "LUFA Joystick wFFB" under "Other Devices", the Joystick gets recognized and is listed in joy.cpl but ...

Thank you for the clarification. I would like to use the FFB effects. WHat do you mean it is not optimized for gaming? How will it be affected. I really only use it in descent freespace and some other space sims. I'm not a gamer, I run flight sims from time to time, but from what I have read ...

I'm not at all a circuit-designer, though, so that could hinder me if it's more fundamental and something there needs modification. Thanks again! You shouldn't have to change the hardware. These are digital joysticks so there are only a couple of wires sending signals back and forth. It's the ...

I've built the circuit and programmed it with both the stable and then the latest (self-compiled) firmware. Re: USB Converter for MS Sidewinder 3DPro, PP, and FFP
Your computer won't recognize the Teensy alone or on the circuit. You need to have a joystick plugged in for it to be recognized. The hexfile is to recognize an HID (Human Interface Device). That's the joystick, not the Teensy. If there is an error on your board you built, then it's not going to ...
