Re: Unofficial Unauthorized Descent 2 Texture Patch (UUD2TP)
Is there a new mission editor in the works? This is the first I've heard of it. I would be very interested in hearing more of what ProxyOne is cooking up. I just learned Doom Builder and it is sooo much more optimized. It has been hard to go back to DLE, haha. This is a great resource! Like you said ...

Re: DXX-Rebirth Randomizer
Oh right, that makes a lot of sense. The descent 2 wall system would complicate things immensely. Just deleting all the walls would really take away from the level design, yeah. Not sure how you would build logic around it. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth

Re: DXX-Rebirth Randomizer
Yooo!! I realize I'm extremely late to this, but I finally got around to trying it out and it's awesome. Very fun idea! Great way to breathe life into the original maps. I've been working my way through on insane with the only rule being I need to *attempt* to rescue all the hostages. It's a good ...

Re: Manic Mine
I had fun! The first part is pretty rough, had to restart a few times to finally get through it, but difficulty balances out just fine after that. Probably wouldn't matter if it was continuous play. Only ran into the object limit in the first room or two. Not a big deal considering the size of the ...

Re: [D1 Singleplayer / Co-op] Quotiency
Another great level set! I'm currently on level 9. It's been a long time since I've played a strictly D1 mod. I forgot how crunchy the old sound effects were, it's been a big nostalgia trip. Also a reminder how much I really prefer the OG Descent color palette. I'm only about halfway through, but ...

Re: making master texture index
Perfect! Thanks for the help, I never would have figured that out on my own. Small problem though, my file is D2x.hog. I don't have a D2x.ham file. I tried what you said with hoard.ham but it didn't work. Could you link a source? Should be an easy fix after that. Also, your secret door textures are ...

Re: making master texture index
Hello everyone! I'm just going to continue to post on this thread instead of flooding the boards with new topics. Not throwing shade, I just like to keep all my modding struggles in one place. :P Vertigo bots aren't showing up in my levels and I'm not sure why. Running D2x as usual. When I convert ...

Re: making master texture index
Wow! Alright. This turned out to be a much larger project than I had anticipated. I hadn't realized how much custom work was already out there, especially in pvp maps. I guess when you don't have to worry about building 20+ maps you have more time to focus on the little details lol. Everything is ...

Re: Gaming Music
Cool idea! I like literally all genres but mostly listen to extreme metal? Feels kinda like a rhythmic white noise in the sense you don't have to focus on it, but it still gets your adrenaline going. Great background. I also really dig electronic stuff, that Overwerk song is very much my vibe too. I ...

Hey! Wanted to say I just played through "Ulterior Ultima Thule" and I was really impressed with the level design. Had a lot of fun with it. Excited to see what you're cooking up here!

Re: making master texture index
Hey! So. I'm having to do some detail work with resolution and converting to 256 colors. That's not a big deal, and I'm able to pull the important parts from larger images. The problem I'm encountering is that DLE doesn't seem to allow more texture slots as far as I can tell. I only can figure out ...

making master texture index
When designing my levels I noticed quite of few great textures are locked to Descent 1 when using DLE. As well as different saturations of textures in separate .PIG files. I've also encountered quite a few great textures when playing through mods. I find this very limiting and I plan to export ...

Re: Descent level viewer website
Aye, I'm late to the post but this is super cool! Even if it might be seen as a novelty without search or organizing features, it is really fun to just scroll through levels and check out the geometry. Way more efficient than DLE if you're running low on inspiration. Runs great for being in a ...

I've put online a version of new site by Parabolicus with the DMDB content I've recovered at https://2ar.nl/dxma/ As far as I know the plan is to add a few more features and then host it at sectorgame.com I've also put online an archive with all DMDB files at https://2ar.nl/dl/dmdb-files.zip (1.1GB ...

Re: New 10 level campaign!
You could play off entropy being disorder, which the player is ultimately seeking to prevent... With hostages, a good rule I've found is to have them 4.5 units away from whatever they're standing on. With textures, if I understand correctly, the editor does have an align function which might be ...

Re: New 10 level campaign!
@Alter-Fox Thank you for the feedback! That is all really useful advice. Sorry it took so long to reply, it is just a lot to take in, haha. These are all details I will take into consideration in the future. I like the door idea a lot, especially to add the frame lights, there were several places I ...

Re: New 10 level campaign!
Played through the first couple levels and I very much like the way they play-- you certainly seem to have a knack for the enemy placements. I could share some tips on visual presentation if you're interested in doing something like this again, and if you want to hear what I have to say :) Thanks ...

New 10 level campaign!
Hello everyone! I finally released the level set I've been working on the past year or so. There's only 10 levels, but they are expansive and complex. Lot's to explore and secrets to find. It's designed to be challenging, you may take deaths here or there, but it's definitely not unfair. Download on ...

More modding questions + levels to playtest
Hey everyone! It's been a while, but my short campaign is pretty far along. Now I need to start polishing the levels and getting everything in the same place. My main question is how to get all these separate level sessions into the same HOG file and properly name everything. I'm also trying to set ...

Re: New level and misc. questions
It's a good level. Especially for your first level. I see that there is some experimenting with cubes. I really like the stalagmite room. (The one with the red door.) Thanks! It may have turned out alright, but you're only seeing the finished product. Lemme tell ya, it was huge mess getting there ...

Re: New level and misc. questions
Thanks for all the advice! It has been super helpful. All the door stuff is just the limitations of the engine I guess. Not a huge deal, most of them have workarounds with triggers or other stuff. I tried flattening the hostage room, so it was even on the y axis and the hostages were still all small ...

New level and misc. questions
Hello Descent fans! After seeing some of the very impressive projects people are making in the level spotlight category I decided I would post this here instead since I have some DLE questions as well. I've been hard at work on a level, and while it is finished, I did hit a couple of hurdles I wasn ...
