mp3 sound editing

Post by Phoenix Red »

I know nothing on the subject, so please enlighten me.

Is it possible to strip the lyrics out of a song? Is there a program that's free or has a trial for that?

I recall something about the singing being in a different layer, in some files, or some such. Or maybe it just nukes certain sound wavelengths, no idea. Maybe you can't, I don't know.

I suggest a search for Karaoke Software. A quick look revealed alot of freeware. Basically it just squashes the vocal frequencies.

The way it typically works is that vocals are typically spread evenly across both the left and right channels. What "karaoke" software does is combine the left and right signals and does some clever subtraction to leave you with a vocal free left and right channel. You should be able to achieve this with any multi track editor, even goldwave, without having to resort to expensive plugins.
