Turkeys

Well, I've been living here for 25 years and this morning was a first. A couple hundred yards back on my 10 acres is a line of tamarack (American Larch) trees and I noticed some large shapes sitting in them. Then one flew down to the ground and immediately i saw it was a wild turkey. got the bi-nocs out and saw what must have been 15 - 20 turkeys roosting in the trees.
I've seen 'em crossing the road down from me a couple of times, once a mother a a bunch of little ones.
Having seen them roosting was a real treat. Maybe they'll start coming up to the bird feeder soon (make note to self...get cracked corn).

Maybe for the "fat America" we are today, but some of us still have a great sense of the pride and strength of this country. Something a Turkey doesn't represent as well as an Eagle
