SMC Tigerswitch

Post by Capm »

We're looking at a SMC Tigerswitch 10/100 Standalone L2/L4 24+2-port switch (SMC6724AL2) Anyone have any thoughts on this switch or the SMC brand in general? Good, bad, ugly? We've got a Cisco 2950 in where this one will be going. We were looking to save a few bucks rather than buying another 2950, but if its not worth it, we're just going to go ahead and get another Cisco.

I've never used SMC, and I kinda like Ciscos network assistant, I don't know that this has anything like that or if its all CLI. We do have a couple other 2950's in the network also.

SMC = bad from what I hear. Use ebay and get a 2950 for dirt cheap.

I've only used one SMC product, and that was a 10-port switch in the networking class I took just about two years ago. It got the crap beat out of it by students over the years, and still worked like it was supposed to.
