VMP is a persistent little booger. It seems like every 3 to 6 months I see it has reinstalled itself on my PC and I cannot figure out exactly where it is coming from.

it often comes with games, dvds and cd roms with extra content and is installed in the background without consent so i class it as malware and remove it whenever found.

Disable auto-run. Problem solved (as far as DVD movies are concerned, this won't keep it from installing via games).

Tweak UI (the Powertoys version, not 3.11) -> My Computer -> Autoplay -> Types

Uncheck both boxes. Click OK.

The old version of Tweak UI should have a similar layout. (for those of you not running XP)
