Digital reflex cameras

I might be in the market for a digital reflex body. I'm talking about the digital cameras that can work with the removable lenses from analog cameras.

We have quite a few lenses from Nikon; among others a very nice 135mm fixed lens and a 35-105mm lens with autofocus (type AF Nikkor). We also have powerful and configurable external flashes.
Basically a lot of equipment for making great photos on film.

I'd like to buy a digital reflex camera body in order to use all this stuff to produce digital images rather than filling filmrolls. Obviously, since all our gear is Nikon, I'd have to buy a Nikon camera.

Any of you have experience with these semi-professional cameras? And what about retrofitting older lenses?

Nikon D100, D70
Canon 10D, Canon 20D

Yeah I was looking at the Nikon D70. Supposedly it's capable of using the lenses I mentioned... I'll look into it.

My buddy has the D100 and it's a great camera. It's more of a manual type. The Canon's have both fully auto and fully manual.

Agreed, my oldschool 135mm lens has manual focus, but surely the AF lens will retain it's autofocus features when used with the D70?

Yeah they should. I have an older Canon EOS and my lenses will work on the newer 10D or 20D bodies.

Nikon Digital SLR cameras will work with any Nikon lense made as far back as into the 80's maybe even older.

With the Autofocus lenses you are able to take advantage of the advanced metering. With older manual focus lenses you only get basic spot metering. My film versions ( 6006, N-90 ) have the same limitations. This does not matter to me because I prefer to focus in manual mode anyway.

The Digital models that use any Nikon lenses are D1X, D2H, D2X, D70 and D100

Fuji also makes the Finepix S2 that uses the newer autofocus nikor lenses.
