Why the liberals keep losing

Post by woodchip »

It would seem that the far left has no clue as to how to present themselves to the general public. While deriding any conservative who may make inappropriate comments, liberals seem to have no compunction about doing likewise:

This proves that they are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. Its ok when they are doing it, but not when someone else does.

Hehe :P

So I take it, woody, that there were no anti-Kerry shirts along the same lines made by conservatives? Someone across the hall from me owns one with the enlightened phrase, "Kerry for President...of France." I may think it's funny, but it's along the same lines of mindless partisan banter.

Link failed... though there are plenty of "Bush is Vile" products at http://www.cafepress.com/goodwinart to demonstrate the point.

It's not fair to generalize from this link. We don't know that this particular guy gets upset when Republicans do the same thing, and we don't know that his fellow Democrats accept it. It doesn't particularly prove anything.

However, taken in concert with much other evidence, it does demonstrate that right now the Democratic party is one without a message, and that it continues to alienate voters with rhetoric that fires up the party base. For example, Howard Dean recently spoke of a struggle between "good and evil", where "evil" referred not to terrorists or criminals, but to those who are pro-life. Dean also recently said "love thy neighbor" is the most important commandment, and criticized Republicans for trying to choose which neighbors they wanted to love. Yet last January, when a man at a town hall meeting asked Dean to tone down the rhetoric and heed the command "love thy neighbor" his immediate response was "George Bush is not my neighbor." Did I mention he's the party chairman? Then we've got people like Michael Moore (who the party leadership embraced, giving him a seat next to Jimmy Carter at the DNC) and daily Kos (funded by Howard Dean, linked to by many major Dem candidates, interviewed on CSpan last night.) Look at the way Joe Lieberman is treated as a fake Democrat, while Arnold is treated as a true Republican.

Democrats think the way to win elections is to fire up the party base and not get any swing voters. But as long as they push away swing voters (in this case, those who are pro-life, Christians, pro-Israel Jews, or who just prefer discourse to remain civil) Republicans will keep winning and Democrats will keep seething. There are things Republicans do to alienate swing voters, too -- but not nearly on the scale Democrats (as a party and as individuals) have done recently.

You don't need to be a Republican party cheerleader to pick up on this. If you're a sane Democrat, this is probably something YOU should pick up on, and do what you can to stop it. I'd like to have Republicans in power long enough to cut my taxes and overturn Doe v Bolton... but we do still need sane opposition that keeps them from going too far. A Democratic party that alienates the center isn't going to serve as a very good counterweight.

Topgun, while there may be amusing t-shirts for democrats and visa versa, this shirt is clearly beyond good taste...to say the least about humorous. The question you have to ask yourself, if a conservative presented a similar t-shirt but with Hillary's name on it, what do you think the outcry would cresendo too?

I really didn't see much wrong with that Tom DeLay shirt. I like the save marriage bumper stickers and totebags. I wonder who would spend money to buy that crap. Yack.

Now now, we all have to admit that Hillary looks better with an Osama-esque beard, right? :P

Hillary has her own upcoming problem:

"The project being billed as "Hillary in the Raw", like you've never seen her before, is set to drop in September by liberal Ed Klein, former NYT MAGAZINE editor, VANITY FAIR, PARADE contributor and author of multiple works on the Kennedys."

"The revelations in it should sink her candidacy," a source close to Klein warns the DRUDGE REPORT.
