Typical George Steinbrenner.....Boston couldn't get him so the Yankees sweep in and make a deal. Oh well, great pitching beats great hitting any day of the week, Schilling will eat him alive Image

Thats alright the Yankees can have Rodriguez. That way when our kids ask what happened to major league baseball we can tell them how a guy named George Steinbrenner ruined it by taking all the competition out of it.

Being a Redsox fan, you have no idea how disheartened I was to read this in the paper this morning.

Is it really too much to ask to see the red sox win, in my lifetime?

Steinbrenner won't be the owner of the Yankees forever and personally I feel that guys like him who are willing to spend tons of money to get the best players to give his team the best chance of winning ADDS to the competition level. Just think of how much excitement there will be between the Yankees and Redsox when they just play during the regular season.

Just because he has some of the best players doesn't garuntee him a Championship. The Yankees have had a better team on paper the last couple of years then the team they had that won them 3 straight championships in a row.

Boston fans have hope. Remember, Schilling is the same guy that told A-Rod he was going to throw him 3 straight fastballs at the All-Star game in 2001 or 02, can't remember, and he ended up striking him out Image They'll meet MANY more times and A-Rod will make a difference, but the Redsox have the best combination of pitching and offense in the AL east.

Anyways, I'm right with DCrazy, I'm rooting for my Diamondbacks and if they don't make it a National League team in general who has produced 2 World Series Champion teams in the last 3 years. The Yankees have had their run, time for some other teams to kick booty.

Since the last Strike: AL 5 - NL 4
1995: Braves (NL)
1996: Yankees (AL)
1997: Marlins (NL)
1998: Yankees (AL)
1999: Yankees (AL)
2000: Yankees (AL)
2001: Diamondbacks (NL)
2002: Angels (AL)
2003: Marlins (NL)
2004: It's up for grabs boys, lets get this season rollin Image

In reality, I think the last three years have shown that you can spend whatever you want and still get beat. And besides...Boston had their chance for this guy...and they obviously don't know how to deal...they wanted an even trade and it just wasnt happening...so more power to New York for realizing what needed to happen when Boone got hurt.

1. Lofton
2. Jeter
3. Rodriguez
4. Giambi
5. Sheffield
6. Williams
7. Matsui
8. Posada
9. Wilson?

What a lineup. Boston's pitchers need about 15 runs support to beat these guys day in and out Image

heh, thats based off the assumption that the Yankees score a bunch of runs off them. In a short series, my moneys still on the bosox.

You have to remember that the Red Sox just came off a season where they set a bunch of MLB and American League offensive records for a team in a single season and they only have three players that really jump out at you when you think of hitting. Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra & Johnny Damen. They had huge help by guys like Bill Mueller & Todd Walker (Whos no longer with the team) having monster seasons.

Can they repeat that this year? Probably not to the same degree, but this is a team that has only sustained major changes in the pitching rotation. Pitchers know how to pitch regardless, the offensive structure for the most part has been together for a bit and they started rolling last year. You have to have a team that gels together to win a Championship.

The Yankees are going to be spending a lot of time getting used to all the new players and learning how they all work together can't all be ironed out during the spring.

I think you're thinking of golf. Image

People that dislike baseball and think its boring (I used to be one of them) usually don't really identify the things that make Baseball exciting. Everyone thinks the most exciting part about Baseball is someone hitting a home run and that couldn't be further from the truth. Sure it's great, but theres so much more.

My Dad played fastpitch softball on multiple championship teams when I was REALLY little in the early 80s and I loved it. I wanted to be a baseball player when I grew up. As I got older and we went to baseball games I became increasingly disgruntled with how slow the game was because all I was waiting for was someone to hit the ball. Plus the weather was usually hot, and on top of that being a little kid you want a bunch of attention etc...etc...

It wasn't until I turned 18 and I started watching the Diamondbacks in 1999 that I started realizing that there was much more to the game. Since then I've been an avid baseball fan and really regret all the years that sports and baseball more specifically seemed really dumb and boring.

It helps to have an exciting team to cheer for, I'll admit that, but if your team doesn't do it for you there are 29 other teams out there to choose from.
