Kudos to Liquid Fire who posted it over at PD. Sorry if it's old news, missed that one.

Thanks a lot for posting that. I never though the model would fly, but then again, who would have thought a lawn mower would fly..

Thanks for posting this

No working weapons? Blah.

A helicopter (representation of a Descent ship) would be better.

That's awesome, looks like it takes some skills to fly it because the forward swept wings would make ultra responsive.

Did you guys notice the poster named Techroscope said he helped design the game ?

Just an observation.

You know what, I worked on that game, in fact I was the assistant producer on the first descent. And I can tell you I don't think we ever gave a thought to the arodynamics of the main ship. But it is totaly cool to see that thing fly.

I no longer work for interplay, but the original producer of the title still does. I am going to send this link to him, I know it will get a smile. If you had the plans, I would love to build on of these things and give one to him, and keep one for myself (like I had to say that). That is so great, I am glad that so many people liked the game. I know that we a blast playing it, and making it.

looks like he had to do some serious work on those airfoils to make them aerodynamically stable. especially with those laser cannons sticking out over the leading edge

Yes and that is awesome and if you want a helicopter Tri-cord than your just funny cause a ship like that with chopper blades would look gay. But I think its the closest youll get to D3 in flying like that.

instead of rotors, you could use directional lift fans, like the new F-35 JSF, for when it its in V/STOL flight modes.

for such a light weight, i dont see all that much powe.......................well nvm.

it would add that much weight to get the batteries to power those fans, then the added structural points.......ETC ETC ETC..

your right, bad idea :P

Not a bad idea at all. With todays electric model building materials and techniques, as well as the electronics available today, it could be done very easily. You would be amazed at how much power you can get out of the right type of batteries these days. Add a couple of gyros in there for stability and you could have yourself one cool little mochine.

well, now hearing that coming from you Ded, i guess it could be done with the proper electronics.

maybe we should write to him and convince him to make a tri-chord capable RC-Pyro

regarding a non-chopper VTOL RC craft:
i've been mulling over the idea in my head, every now and again when i think about it, for over a year now.

atm my idea involves rockets
perhaps peroxide.
you could have many little outlets all over the ship, with a centralised (or not) computer controlled valving arrangement to control their firing.

it's more suited for pitch/roll/yaw than actual THRUST, so the idea is more suited for a lander type craft (with a single non-gimbaled bottom mounted main thrust source) than a pyro (in which you'd need to be able to thrust downwards no matter what orientation the pyro is in. that'd be hard.)
