Many years of attending car crashes teaches you two things:

Wear Seatbelt = live
No seatbelt = dead (or worse)

Nothing can be simpler.

WEAR YOUR SAFETY BELT!

I think it's interesting how this would have been (IMO) an easily survivable crash if he had worn a seat belt. It looks like the car flipped over, but the roof didn't collapse, so the worst you could have would be bruises and maybe a broken bone, if that.

The car hit a guardrail, he over corrected spun into the other smashing into it flipping the car over on its side where it came to rest.

Here's another one for the Darwin award:

1) If you have a fast car, don't think it makes you a good driver.
2) If you have a rally car, don't rally on the public road.
3) Don't get your GF to be your co-pilot.
4) Don't film your own stupidity.

Too bad, it looked like it was a hell of an Audi to do some track laps with...
You can actually see the driver realise there's a *bus* in his way just before it's too late Image
He has to be congratulated for his camera-fastening skills though Image

...so why did he go backwards? Usually when you crash and hit something you fly through the windshield...

It wasnt a frontal crash, but a side crash. I'm guessing because the guardrail flipped the car, the guy became separated from the seat, the car skidded forward with greater velocity than the guy, and he "went backwards".
