Diablo 3 rumours.

Post by CDN_Merlin »

Diablo III Music Recorded? - Flux [0:09:PST]

We received an email today from a Diablo fan and classical musician in the Czech Republic.

I am musician in Czech Republic. I play not with one orchestra but with many depending on work. I have recently been to Bratislava in Slovak Republic for recording sessions with local Radio Symphony Orchestra, where we just recorded music for Diablo 3.

This is of course unconfirmed, but he sounds legit and his email is indeed from .cz. More info as it becomes available.

For some historical perspective, check the Battle.net page with the D2X:LoD bonus mp3s. Scroll down a bit and you can read news and see pictues from Blizzard's recording session for the D2X music, held in Bratislava, Slovakia, with the Slovak Radio Philharmonic. Those sessions were carried out in early 2001, before the game's release that June, so perhaps D3 is further along than we've been assuming? Either that or they're just recording the music earlier in the game's production cycle than the did for D2X.

And in this month's PC Gamer, there is a big announcent coming in the next issue.

Talks about an old franchise being reawakened.

Great news! I just hope they don't turn it into a World of Warcraft with Diablo elements though. It seems that that clique is pretty much filled anyways. Although, conversely, I'd also like to see the game much less linear than its predecessors as well. If D3 is in the making, it'll be interesting to see how the gameplay element spans out.

I'd like to see Diablo's gameplay and community, but with Dungeon Siege's graphics. Make it so!

If D3 is being made, trust me, it will blow the fack out of DS and and other similar game. We are talking about Blizzard here who have never dropped the ball on ANY of their games.

To me, Blizzard is the best company for making games. Not one of their games has sold less than 1 million copies IIRC.

That makes 3 "D3"s.

Enough with the click click click cow nonsense. I want Starcraft 2. And don't even think of mentioning "Ghost".

I would be surprised to see another Diablo before we see SC.

WHAT? NOOOO! My theories about SC2 being announced at this year's e3 are incorrect, unless blizzard has the balls to announce BOTH sc2 and d3? that would be amazing, i would literally jizz all over my apartment.

You all get to have that wonderful image in your minds now. Sorry.

My take: Diablo 3 for next Gen Consoles for xmas. Starcraft 2 for PC. Anything new after that for the PC will be MMORPGs.

They would be stupid to not make Di3 for PC as it has sold millions of copies. If you tihnk everyone would run out and buy a console just to play di3, you are mistaken.

No, im not mistaken. Your just bullheaded and close-minded.

The short of it is, its cheaper to develop for consoles than it is for PCs - you get a platform thats stable for 4-5 years, and is more convient for the end user.

It could be Diablo 3 for PC and Next-gen platforms, but its far cheaper to get a console than it is to upgrade a computer especially wrt to long term thinking.

So there you go, my take on the matter with more expansion.

I know it's cheaper, what I meant was it would be stupid to not make a PC version. Also, HTF would you play a game like diablo on a console? IMHO, consoles are way to limiting when it comes to current games.

Egads. If this turns out to be true, then I'm gonna have to find time to play both DS2 and Di3. Not that that's a terribly big problem. :)

They better have a good druid like character, though!

[Edit]Ooo, check it out. An update.
Update: More from the musician:

I did not find the people from Blizzard in the studio, but composer (Ulman?) was there and conductor was named Kirk Trevor, I think he is from England but he conducts in Bratislava much and also in some other cities in Czech Republic like Zlin.

The music is again, like in Diablo 2 expansion, very much based on Wagner. In Diablo 2 expansion there are many plases in Act 5 that take directly from Wagners opera "Tristan and Isolde". This time for Diablo 3 there was music similar to Wagner operas "Lohengrin" and also "Siegfried" from Ring cycle. But this is not so bad that he takes from these things, almost all movie composers borow Wagner music, like Williams for Star Wars and others like Nino Rota who made music for Fellini's films.

So now when Diablo 3 is finished I must buy, maybe I will hear all my mistakes (I play percusion instruments).
I'm gonna have to se if this guy is right about Wagner being in D2X. It might lend some credibility to it if he actually knows what the music is based off of.

There are more than enough people that couldn't be bothered buying consoles for games on principle... especially, it turns out, those who play Diablo 2. The guys I know that do that... well, if they play console games at all it's on emulators. Every single one of them.

But nonetheless. Perhaps it's just a niche thing... but there IS a PC gaming market, and it won't go away.

Especially since, well, everyone has a PC already. And Diablo 2 didn't exactly blow people away with system requirements.

I thought DiabloIII was out and called "gimme your money" er... I mean WOW.

shouldnt WOW be called World of Diablo? it has all the same stuff except for the big fella and his bros.

whomever was asking for DIII to be non linear should try WOW they would prolly like it a lot.

Wow, that thought really kinda throws a damp towel on things, doesn't it? What if Diablo 3 turns out to be a pay-to-play MMORPG insted of using the format Diablo 1 and 2 have? That would just kill it for me...

I doubt they would do that. Just not right. If they did, I wouldn't buy it. I refuse to buy a game and continue paying for it.

No, if they make DIII it should be similar to the other Diablo games. I'm not a fan of the MMORPGs. That's what WOW is for. I like the Diablo series as it is.

well thats a matter of opinion isnt it. so your sweeping statement is the one that stands out as foolish.

both are third person, both are fantasy based, both invlove running for large distances, killing something and hopefully collecting something usefull that they drop. both are IMHO collecting games. both you wear armor both you use primative weponry and cast spells. need I continue....

I know they are different but they in my opinion share many of the same characteristics. basically to me they felt similar. if you feel differently that is fine, say that. but dont tell me my opinion is wrong, that is just stupid.

I can see where pugwash is coming from. There are tons of similarities between diablo and wow. On the other hand, its a whole different game in many ways. Diablo doesnt give me the same immersion I get from WoW. I've never got an adrenaline rush playing diablo. But with wow, especially when you get up in level, you really can get into some white knuckle stuff. I like wow a lot. I dont get bored with it after an hour of play like I did with diablo. If they did release a di3, I'd buy it tho.
