I found this helpful, so I thought I'd post it on here.

Ohh handy, the option to open links that would normally open a new window in a new tab instead without having to middle click it.

ahh, i thought that tabbed preferenced section in firefox options was from one of my extensions . i guess they integrated it now eh.

since my last reinstall i hav't got anything that can DUPLICATE a tab (with all it's history) yet. i'll just get that now and then i shoudl be done :).

I'm using the Tabbrowser Preferences extension myself, so just about all of those appear in the options menu. Very useful stuff. :)

it makes it run slow.

to the point that even when i was typing things (like this) into message windows in firefox, i was typing faster it coudl handle and i'd have to wait as the type-buffer emptied out it's contents into the message window.

this also ended up giving me some pretty crazy WPM scores on typing speed tests (400+!!).

after i uninstalled it, it all ran fine again.

I've used TBE since I started using Firefox. (it was Phoenix at the time) It does bog down the browser a tad at startup, but nothing show stopping. In the past I've also had a problem with TBE causing Firefox to crash on certain webpages, but that hasn't happened in months.

Maybe some tab guru's can help me. I'm pretty sure I don't really need TBE, but it's the only thing that's given me the simple tab functionality I want. Basically, I want only one window. I want offsite links, bookmarks, and google searches opened in a new tab. It always seemed a bit overkill to use a big complicated extension like TBE to get this simple functionality.

Does anyone know how I can do this without TBE? I've tried TBP, but I couldn't do what I wanted.

you can do that with TBP. been doing that with TBP for the last few months.

Mozilla doesn't recommend use TBE because its pretty hackish.

Ok, I just uninstalled TBE and installed TBP. I don't see options for all that I'm looking for.

Specifically:

* Onsite (same domain) links open in current tab, offsite (different domain) links open in new tab (in background hopefully)

* Bookmarks open in new tab.

I did find options for some of my other requirements, but these two are the most important for me. Did I miss something?

*Edit - I just tried Tab Mix and it seems to do what I want.

It's 1.0.3

I had my settings like what you've shown, but they didn't seem to do anything for me. All links would open in the current tab no matter what. At first I thought it was because I had previously had TBE installed, so I did a fresh install with a new profile. Same thing. Anyways, Tab Mix does just what I want without TBE's bloat.

TBE breaks both the popular pie-menu extensions: Radial Context and EasyGestures. And yeah, it's a dog.
