I don't know German and babelfish isn't really helping but if that caption does indeed sya that it weighs 2.8 tonnes and does 350km/h then thats impressive.

Take that chrome bling off the grill, and I'd agree with you... right now it looks like a Marvel Comics ride (The Punisher came to mind)

it does look a little cartoony. the blingbling really adds some comical/50-60's type character.

This car has been custom built for a German tire producer (Fulda) who wanted it to introduce their newest line of high performance tires. It's based on the Maybach 57 S; the engine was modified to deliver about 700 HP and has a torque of 1020 Nm. The designers were aware of the fact that this car could easily look cartoonish and tried to avoid that trap; imo they did well. It's a reminiscence to the Maybach SW 38 - a very famous car from the pre-WW2 era that had been built for the same tire producer to advertise their high-performance tires of that time - it made over 200 km/h.

Top Gear says this about somthing similar...great show btw if you can see it.

I thought it looks a bit Germany circa 1939, just needs to do a bit of goose stepping.

EDIT: hmm link dosnt go where i want it to. You'll find it if you search around. :)

From the perspective view the car looks ok. But then I got a side profile and that car is waaaaay too long for the exterior to look good. That look should be a tad but more stocky in shape to look really nice. Would make a decent batmobile though but I wouldn't want to drive it. :P

Sort of: "Looks like Darth Vaders official car, can't fly tho" :)
"We tried to avoid the Batmobile looks at all costs. We had to use black, so we didn't put on any wings or vertical elements"

Didn't work :)
