I think this was my favorite book of the ones thus far, then again the third movie sucked so bad I may have forgotten how good the book was.

Put that on the list of "rejected B-porn movie titles".

Rejected? They'd probably use it. Though it would be more along the lines of...

"Harry LongHead and the Whores of Afganabang" :P

Wrong one Krom. It's Harry Potter & The Prisoner of A$$-cabin. :P

Seriously though I can't wait.

Book 5 was my favorite so far actually.

I enjoyed it as well. I like the character development as they grow up and their personalities change. I also want to see Hermione's "character development" in a couple years. She can ride my broomstick as long as she wants.

Book 5 was where I can truly say that J.K. Rowling graduated to the status of author. I'm not too partial to the series myself, and I think she could do a lot better, but the fifth book was the one that held my attention the most. I will read the final two, if for nothing else than to see how the story turns out and to look for continued improvements in her writing style. As for the movies, the only one I've seen was the first, and I thought it was pretty bad; I also don't really like the idea of them making movies while she's still writing the series, but I suppose that the cash cow was too big to pass up.

P.S. And why the hell do I have the terrible luck of Book 6 being released on my birthday? :P

P.P.S. After watching that trailer, I do have to admit that some of the visuals are pretty impressive, and the actors have grown up a great deal. Plus, if nothing else, the fact that John Williams did the score gives the movies at least one plus vote in my book. :)

Mr. Williams isn't doing the score for the Goblet of Fire movie either. Patrick Doyle is. I assume he'll reuse a lot of Williams's music from the first two and a half movies, though.

Alright, so somebody enlighten me, what's the difference between a teaser and a trailer? A teaser more just short scenes as opposed to a trailer which gives you a general idea of the plot?

Anyway the movie looks good. I cannot tell you how long I've been waiting to see the dragon fight scene on film, but maybe that's just me :D

What are you talking about, Spaceboy? Rowling's writing both the sixth and seventh books; in fact, she's done the sixth one, which will be released this July.

I dunno.... I always sorta just thought Harry Pothead errr I mean Harry Potbelly errr I mean, nevermind you know his name... his series anyway... as kind being.... well ummmm.... stupid.

I read the first book, thought it was dumb. It is ok for kids but not adults. Then I saw the movie and thought it was even dumber. Then I saw the second movie and thought it was ok. Saw the third movie and it was dumb but it was a step up from 1.

I never liked magic or wizards or dragons or talking heads.... or witches... or trolls. I just don't believe they are real or even could be for some reason. I wonder why? :P

The very reason I love the fantasy genre in general is because its characters aren't real. If you want realism, watch the news or read a history book. As for me, I'd rather get lost in another world. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, "Some look at things that are, and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?" :)

Bleh, wizards and dragons and trolls and witches are far too overrated. :P

Now, SW is a fantasy. Neverending Story (the original) was a good fantasy based film. Tron is another good fantasy film. They Odyssee also had many great creatures. I guess I just find those particular areas of fantasy far too overused in the media.

I'll give credit to Tolken for being the one who created them. But like the Backstreet boys and the Star Trek time card, far too overplayed.

Ugh, the Neverending Story movies were absolutely terrible compared to the original book. They even changed the name of the book's world from Fantastica to Fantasia. And as far as I'm concerned, sci-fi and fantasy are two completely separate genres. I have no idea why they're always categorized together in bookstores, considering that fantasy books usually have very little to do with science. :P Star Wars was great action sci-fi, but there wasn't too much fantastic about it. As for the reason that certain elements of the fantasy genre are overplayed, you can blame the myriad of authors who shamelessy copy many of Tolkien's creations. :P

I wouldn't even classify SW as sci-fi. There is nothing that is even remotly possible in that film other than the fact that we can fly in space. Sure, it was based on the concept of space itself but it is still fantasy. There is no force, no lightsabers, and physics do not handle even remotly like they do in that film. There are no jedi. Not too mention that supposedly the events in Star Wars happened a long long time ago. :) Only thing that saves that is the words in a Galaxy far far away. :)

As for blaming authors that copy Tolken, you can also blame the author of the Harry Potter series for that. :)

My point about the Neverending Story is that most of the creatures were fairly unique. I liked the first film. Not the 2nd or 3rd. I might stick that book on my list of novels to read.
