Moross

Post by woodchip »

Well here sit. My one and only daughter is off to her senior prom and for a father, that gives pause for reflection. Starts giving you thoughts that your parenting days are fast coming to a close and the porch rocker is just around the corner. The other day I realized I was heading into old man city when Irealized I was dressed like one. Burmuda shorts, old white v-neck t-shirt that had been worn once too often, loafers and calf high black socks. Good thing I was only going out to cut the grass.
Took my daughter (Danielle's her name) out yesterday and bought her a three pearl and silver necklace and a opal ring to wear for todays prom. Yesterday was Senior skip day so we spent four of five hours roaming the mall looking for the jewlary items. Funny how I didn't mind spending so much time shopping with her. Usually I get bored shopping unless of course it is someplace like Cabalas. Yesterday was different. Perhaps because of all the time I missed out when she was younger and I was working too much. Now I appreciate time spent with her as I know she will soon be out of the house and off to college.
She is also beautiful beyond compare. Now I know some of you will make wiseasse remarks but that will only show your immaturety. When I say beautiful I don't speak from the point of view of where every father thinks their daughter beautiful, but from a critical assessment in comparison to other woman who model or have been portrayed as genuine heart-throbs. Tall (she had to get low heel shoes so she's not too tall for her date) with a slender build and long tawny hair she could grace any fashion runway. Her interest are in the medical field as I keep telling that it is far more important to be known for ones intellect (she is a A student). Well enough sloshing around here. I'd go and buy a pint to drink except I told her that if for any reason she needed a ride home I'd come and get her. So I have to stay sober. Just another reason to be moross this night. Sigh

Why do parents always believe that their kids will call them? All I know is that whenever people I know get shitfaced at parties or whatever they just fall asleep where they are and go home the next morning. :p

Don't WORRY! Be HAPPY, mon!!!

Geez, if you've got your daughter this far and she's got her head even remotely on straight and is doing well in school, then pat yourself on the back. There's plenty of time to think about getting sloshed (think ... wedding! )
