Woodchip...Raccoon Whisperer
Woodchip...Raccoon Whisperer
In my on going attempt to fraternise with a wild raccoon, tonight I have got the momma raccoon to come within 3 feet of me. She no longer runs up the tree when I approach her, though I stay back about 20 feet or so. I flick out small bits of dry catfood towards her and then toss some just a few feet from where I'm reclining on the ground. Pretty soon she follows the cat food up to where I'm at. Kinda neat gaining the trust of a completely wild animal. I'm really looking forward to when she brings the little ones out.
I'll try and get my daughter to take some pics while I'm out whisperering to the 'coon.

Heh, I heard a pest guy on a radio show today talking about coons. He said there are microbes in coon poop that can live 8 to 10 years. Also, lots of roundworm.
What happens when a roundworm larva gets in you? Well, since humans are not the typical host for roundworm, they get in your body and sort of get lost looking for a home. They just kinda wander around until they find your brain, your eye, or maybe your heart. Then they set up shop. Nasty little buggers, roundworms.
Personally, I wouldn't encourage coons or any other vermin to hang around my house, but if you must play with, or around em, make sure you wash your hands real good dude.
