Took me about a week (off and on) of reading to figure this out, since Linux uses several different keyboard layout systems. However, I've actually gotten it to where I can include the remapping script in the D3 shortcut, so that when I launch it, it remaps the keys I want, and when I close D3 it puts them back again.
Why? I bought a $10 USB keypad, and with it right next to my joystick, I can now direct-button my weapons! Glee!
Life is good. I did the same thing with my Windows install of it, now I don't think I can do without it.
Figured out key remapping in Linux!
