Nero format?

Post by thewolfe »

Nero format?

I just changed from Roxio to Nero 6 Ultra Edition.

I was able to backup my Quicken files to a CD-RW using Roxio Direct CD from Quicken.

There is supposed to be an option for "Format/Prepare Rewritable CD" in Nero StartSmart which does not show up as an option.

I assume I have to format a new CD-RW so it will except data.

Any ideas?

I don't think you need to format disks in nero like you do in roxio, it is handled automatically.

When I try to backup in Quicken it says It is "unable to read Drive...

It couls when I was using Roxio.

And again the "Help" and manual show a Format option that I don't have.

I believe the appropriate replacement for Direct CD in Nero is InCD ...

Did find it on the Nero disk and install it. It wasn't part of the suite.

However, InCD does not load at startup and is not running in Sys tray so I am still not able to backup Quicken.

Put the InCD shortcut in your startup folder.

I ck'ed StartupCPL and WinPatrol and InCD is starting up according to both programs.

I am getting a "Critical Stop" sound after the last item loads in my System tray.

I don't know if that could have something to do w/ InCD not loading.

Simple solution:

Backup your data to a folder on your hard drive. Then just double-click on the Nero Burning Rom icon on your desktop, select continue multi-session, and click on the session at the bottom of the list that pops up. Then right-click and create a new folder on the CD and give it the name of the month/day/year you created the backup data file. Then on the file explorer window, navigate to where you stored you quicken data, and just drag and drop it to the new folder you created on the CD. Then click on the burn button (to the left of the icon with the two CDs together) and let it do its thing. You do not have to format the CD. If you format the CD, you will erase any data on the disk. Next time you backup your quicken data, just make a new folder on the CD with the same naming scheme I mentioned above. This makes life alot easier if for some reason you had to restore a backup from a certain time period.

Direct CD and InCD are the 2 worst programs!!

Drag and Drop "pretend it's a harddrive" Backup Programs = teh suck.
~ look what happens when you change programs..

get your files and burn'em like all the rest of us do

If you are that heart-set in instant backup get a DVD-RAM DRIVE or a TAPE/ZIP DRIVE
