professional Personality Test
professional Personality Test
ok, this is the (Jung) Myers-Brigs Typology test. it determines which of the 16 basic personality types you have. yes it's a professionally used test and is used by psychiatrists. you are suppoesed to take this test under supervision of a psychiatrist, but whatever. i tested myself and it was very interesting reading what kindof personality i was, it was VERY insightful and after reading through all the 16 different personality types, this whole week i've been looking at people in a new way
a lot of you may have already taken this test as part of your employment.
answer all these yes/no questions, at the end you will be given 4 letters that are your supposed personality type.
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
here is a page with explanations of all the 16 types and what the terms mean. you can read about YOUR type here. getting through teh whole site is pretty hard, but hey whatever, just read your own type.

i was INFP (Intoverted iNtuative Feeling Percieving), and from the explanation it seems right on.

Well today I got ESFJ (Extroverted Sensing Feeling Judging). I could've sworn when I've taken similar tests to this before I got ISFP.
I mean some of the questions are hard to answer. I'm both comfortable in crowds and by myself. I can be analytical but since my first impluse is usually right I tend to go with that. Granted I've done a lot of new stuff since I last took the test (getting a job, talking in front of people for school/club activities, etc).
I guess the test takes that into account though. I'm only "slightly" E and F, whereas "moderately" S and J.

I got PIST , whose distinguishing characteristic is an aversion to silly personality tests.

I was ENTJ, though I think I've had every possible combination of *NT* there is, and I've also had the N disappear once or twice (and I usually get T by 20% or less.) I'm something of an odd duck in all of the ways they measure -- am I an introvert or an extrovert? Well, both, depending on the situation (sometimes both at once!)

ISTJ, whatever that means. I probably shouldn't have taken this at 3am though. I distinctly though "WTF did you ask?" during a few of those... BTW, I'm 178%!

rather than me explaining the whole "what do the letters mean", you may want to just read the FAQ instead. it gives a brief introduction to what all these letters mean, better than i can explain here. i'm sorry i should have linked it before (i just kinda figured people would read it from the site).
if you don't understand the FAQ you will probabaly read your profile wrong, ie: the 4 letters don't reflect your only qualities. and most importantly they are used to describe the different functions in a personality, and as such they generally don't share the dictionary meaning of the words.
it is of course important to answer the questions brutally honest. some say that you should answer every question quickly, without thinking too long about it (i can't do this though).
i'm not sure quite what the percentages mean, i think you are ment to treat every one as a seperate 0-100 percentage. so you could in theory get 100 100 100 100 or 0 0 0 0.
what matters most is the 4 letters that are your "TYPE".
tet: being comfortable in crowds and by yourself shouldn't pose a problem with the test, the introvert/extrovert labels are labeling your 4 individual functions, they arn't labels for your entire personality. EVERY person has 2 introverted functions and 2 extroverted functions. the test determines which is which, and which functions are more dominant.
i mean, my primary function is Introverted Feeling, but my secondary function is Extroverted iNtuition. everyone has their outs and ins.
it's very hard to understand, i had to read and re-read this stuff a lot of times, but i eventually understood what it was talking about (dictionary in hand). the theorys can be very abstract.
also people's personalities change.
it's not like an static IQ or anything.
and of course everyone has their quirks, scars, and mental illnesses that can complicate matters.

Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving

* moderately expressed perceiving personality
yeah, okay. Now tell me what I am in English please.
Dude, <a href = "http://www.typelogic.com/istp.html">this is exactly what I'm like</a>
"On the contrary, they lie dormant, saving their energy until a project or an adventure worthy of their time comes along--and then they launch themselves at it. The apparently frenzied state that inevitably ensues is actually much more controlled than it appears--ISTPs always seem to know what they're doing when it comes to physical or mechanical obstacles--but the whole chain of events presents a confusing and paradoxical picture to an outsider."
Yep, that's me. I'm usually laid back and indifferent about most things, but when something interests me I fully immerse myself in it, and usually work to exhaustion on it.
"ISTPs are equally difficult to understand in their need for personal space, which in turn has an impact on their relationships with others. They need to be able to "spread out"--both physically and psychologically"
Yep, much to my girlfriend's dissapointment, I need a lot of personal space.
"communication also tends to be a key issue, since they generally express themselves non-verbally. When they do actually verbalize, ISTPs are masters of the one-liner, often showing flashes of humor in the most tense situations; this can result in their being seen as thick-skinned or tasteless."
Boy, ain't that the truth. I don't like talking much, and I have been known to be an ass by saying something funny when everyone else is worries or concerned.
"ISTPs with more sedate careers usually take on high-risk avocations like racing, skydiving, and motorcycling. While aware of the dangers involved, they are so in touch with the physical world that they know they can get away with much smaller safety margins than other types."
I love adrenaline rushes and like engaging in dangerous activities, provided I am confident in my ability and chance to survive.

INFJ here. It sounds about right for me.
P.S. By the way, I truly think that psychoanalysis, and psychology in general, is almost pure BS. I challenge any psychologist in the world to make a psychological profile of me. Trust me, it ain't gonna happen.

this is what I got.
On a side note, I will refuse adamantly to ever take any sort of personality test as a qualification for employment. The fact that I have been diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder in the past makes it an ADA issue, thus the potential employer would lose swiftly in court.
