Vortex has a REALLY nice feature, which is called "relay". What it does is send the game list into Descent 3 under the TCP/IP game browser. What this means is that you don't have to restart D3 and use an external game browser every time you want to play a game.
Sadly, it's not working for me, and you know what, it'd be nice to have an IN-GAME D3 game list...
Unfortunately, the author was unable to help me. We did some packet diagnostics and etc... no joy. I've tried this on a couple different machines, and there's a bit of a language barrier at work too.
I've tried this on multiple computers, with multiple configurations and multiple OS (win98 SE + WinXP home SP2). I even did a clean install of WinXP, patched it, installed/patched D3 & Installed Vortex and tried to get it working. I admit I haven't tried to get it working on a fresh, unpatched WinXP or WinXP SP1, mostly because I figure that the worms and trojans that would attack the unpatched computer would make D3 unplayable anyhow.
No Joy for me...Unless you people can help me..
** Has anyone even heard of the relay function?
Vortex's Relay Function doesn't work for me- Please Help!

suicide eddie, you're having problems with Vortex? An earlier version crashed for me on startup, but the most recent version works fine for me.
Bubbalou, even without the relay function, Vortex is still a great program, especially for new players. If I wasn't already set up with using Trillian for IRC chat and Kali for server browsing, I'd be using it myself.
