today ain't been so good.
blah!
had the house to myself today, so I figured, what the hell. lets crank the monster.
now, usually my house can only take my bass amp with input vol @ 2 and output @ 2. my gig volume is around 4/5. Today I find I'm cranking up to 5/6!! just to compete with a CD player. Somethin's gone bust.
I love this set up, and it's looking to be a lose/lose situation - if I sell the amp I'll get jack all money for it. To get it repaired is gunna be 100 bux (or more!) that i don't got.
the band didnt make one of the main stages for a festival we were hoping to go to in London, might get on a smaller stage, tho...
our mini tour is falling apart at the seams.
I'm ill and have no idea whats up with me.
haagy is lonely... all i got is the DBB to cry on... *emo*

pretty sure its my amp. its not my basses or cables.
the only thing that it could be in my cab, would be the tweeter. i turned it off, and still problem persists. seems like a failing transformer imo. could be a tube or two, though, but generally it would sound like ass (which is doesnt) as well as little to no output.
bah!

i hope another bass player from the lineup can lend you a bassamp for your london gig. or you could ask some music shop maybe for a lend (i guess this is why i'm always reading on album credits "guitars graciously supplied by fender, etc". they just lend this stuff out like it's going outof fashion)

Acoustic instruments rule and they bring out the musician in you. Not that I don't love my electronics, but wood is good!Tricord wrote:Sorry there HD. I know it sucks when you want to play but can't
In my case, they may bomb the hell out of the power grid or EMP the whole province, I'll still be playing my Yamaha
Sounds like what you need is some sleep. Haag...
What kind of rig are you running? You could be losing some of the tubes and that will make the volume start to cut out on you. You're ill because you dont' do enough drugs, if you feel down, smoke a joint or do a couple lines, you'll feel better, you gotta play on, can't cancel a show because of a minor ailment.
Transformer problems aren't going to cut the volume, it would blow a fuse or short out on you. I was going through tubes like Meatpuppet goes through women and I couldnt' figure it. Then I realized, I had two cabs going into one head and cooking the tubes with a power attenuator and a few effects in the loop but that's it. The slightest thing can cause a little overload on the tubes. If you bought Mesa Boogie, we wouldnt' be having this discussion because they rock...dont' buy crap.
