For those of you who are into Linux like myself, Fedora Core 4 is now officially released.

When I installed FC3 I was thoroughly impressed. I cant wait to try the new release.

I installed FC3 the other day (was under the mistaken impression I needed a Linux installed to transfer my Evolution mailboxes to Outlook thus completing my transition away from Linux and couldn't be bothered installing a real distro) and was reminded of just why I hated Red Hat so much: 1.2Gb 'basic' install with dependencies out the wazoo meaning I couldn't really trim it down from that. Needless to say, it got dispensed with pretty quickly once I realised I didn't need it, VMWare made it so easy to blast away it wasn't funny.

Id give it a shot, but as with other revisions I cant get it to run. After a sucessful install the system restarts as it should, then when it goes to boot the OS I just get the GRUB: prompt and it just sits there. This may have happened since I tried dual booting but its annoying as I want to use my Windows drive in Linux as well to fetch the stuff I have there. I have yet to try it with the Windows drive disconnected.

I ran into similar problems trying to use bootable Linux distros, because I have an add-in SATA PCI card. However, I've installed several distros (currently running SuSE 9.1) and have never had a problem with HD installs. I'm running Windows on one drive, and Linux on the other.

If I could do it all over again, I'd have put Windows on a separate computer altogether. Oh well, there's still time for that when I upgrade.
