Worms 4

Post by Liquid Fire »

Check it out

Seems that even after the ill-fated worms 3d, team 17 has decided to test fate by making the same game, only different.

Fortunately, I found a demo (downloaded from fileplanet. Yuck.) and "different" means "without the suck". That's right, this game is actually fun. Judging from the trailer, it seems to have hundreds of things you can customize. Finally, worms with affros and bling! The game itself is considerably improved. It has a better camera, bigger levels, better graphics, and more detailed worms/weapons.

With a release date of july 29, this is something I'll look foreword to. Mainly because I can actually play the game on my pc.

I've been playing Worms: Forts Under Siege on my Xbox. It's fun, but different - I miss the old classic weapons like the baseball bat, shotgun, bow & arrow, super sheep, etc.

If you've never heard of worms 3d, that's because it wasn't very good.

If you've never heard of worms 4, that's because it hasn't really been advertised at all. I only found out about it because I was cruising some site or other for trailers.

I did hear about Worms 3D and grabbed the demo. It's quirky enough that I played the demo for a while, but never actually bought it.

BTW, the offical Worms 4 site makes no mention of a demo that I can see. Do you have a link to the demo you found?

interesting...

Looks like the demo I found is out-of-date, and not intended for release, but the new one comes out tomorrow. I guess I foolishly assumed fileplanet wouldn't freely distribute a leaked demo. Although it seems there's barely any difference between the old and the new, so it's alright.

Worms belongs in 2D... Woms 3D was just awful, and the camera blew.

That was my first thought when I played worms 3d. The controls sucked, the weapons were boring, there was squat in the way of customization, and it had none of the appeal of the 2d games. But as far as this new one goes, don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

some videos and screenies

Worms 2 was kickass. I got a kick out of it at least.
Worms 3 was a completely different game. Kickass for different reasons. 8)

Worms: Armageddon and the titles like that were the pinnacle of some nice, quirky 2D graphics. The series just hasn't translated that well into 3D, in my opinion. Some things are best left in 2D - like Mega Man. :)
