Been deep into digital cameras for a while now, but I now decided to take the plunge into SLR's in order to grow and learn. Just made the purchase online this morning. Here's the specs. Any other photographers here? And if so, what would your suggestions for a newbie be?

one of those mini battery vacume cleaners can be useful.
use first to pick up the dust then finish with the airbrush, mini tripod?

Rebel XT is a great beginner camera. I own the older non digital Rebel G and it was an awesome camera. My buddy bought the Rebel (300D) and takes awesome pics. I'm holding out for the 20D myself.

I've had a 300D (DRebel original) since September '03 and love it. I'd recommend the new XT version without reservation - ALTHOUGH, if you're really on a budget you might consider an original 300D at closeout pricing.

Um, wtf are you thinking with a title like that, tongue-in-cheek tho it may be?

In addition to the gear you mentioned, you'll probably want a decent tripod. Not a sub-$50 one, but something rock-solid with a heavy-duty head.

Well, to give an update, the customer service rep at buydig pissed me off so I ended up buying locally. Of course local prices can't compete with internet vendors, so I had to forgo on a few things, mainly the external flash, but I'm very pleased with what i have. Took it out on it's maiden voyage outdoors this morning and she performed VERY well. I'll post a few shots on my site after a while. I shoot in Raw, so there's a bit of postprocessing time involved.

I would recommend the Maha C401FS with a pack of either PowerEx or Energizer NiMHs, rated at at least 2300mAh (2500mAh is better, but even 2300mAh kicks alkaline's butt in a single charge).
