Well, didn't get one for xmas but my fiance's lookin to get me one for my birthday so I need me some recommendations.
The specs are 19" & $250 or less.
Lookin for a monitor
I just bought a samsung 930b 19 inch lcd monitor and I love it. I got it for $309 after rebate so a little nmroe than you were looking at. But within in your pice range is the AOpen f90js from tiger direct with dvi and it even comes with the dvi cable http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 2&NoMapp=0
(228.99 after rebate). I had the AOpen first and it was pretty decent but it had a little backlight bleed along the windows toolbar. I have a Samsung 213t lcd at work that I love so I decided to spend a bit more and go with the Samsung. But, if price was my main issue I would have kept the AOpen. I didn't notice the backlight bleed at all in games, just in windows along the bottom toolbar which was just brighter than the rest of the screen. I see tigerdirect has the FujiPlus 19 inch lcd (fp988d) for 249.99 after rebate as well. Both of these have 16ms refresh times and dvi connections. I got rid of my giant gateway 22 inch, 80 pound crt when I got the lcd. And I love it so far.

I work at a University with aerial photography and remote sensing and we are almost completely switching over to lcds. They are getting where they are just as good, use less energy and of course are a lot smaller. We only have them around now for our 3d viewing applications where we have to have 110 plus refresh rates. But, since you don't like the lcd's we have had success with the gateway vx1120 crts which is the old one I sold for $125. It has dual inputs and a built in usb hub as well. I would definitely recommend one of these if you can find one. I know I have seem them used on Ebay and elsewhere as I looked there to get a base price to sell mine for. Good luck.
p.s. I love my lcd and would not go back to a crt myself

LOL.
Give me twin CRTs any day.
19" LCDs at work, 19" CRTs at home - and the CRTs are vastly superior - especially when it comes to scrolling. Scrolling on LCDs is simply ugly.
Colors on LCDs are whacked too: try to identify very similar colors on an LCD compared to a CRT - it's easy to understand why graphic designers won't use them (or at least, won't use any AFFORDABLE LCDs .
Try changing away from the native resolution on an LCD. BLEECH.
The only good things about LCDs are the footprint, and ClearType - which absolutely rocks on the LCD form factor.
LCDs still have a LONG way to go before I'll buy them for home use.
