The greasemonkey is hot

Post by Topher »

So I discovered greasemonkey the other day and the equivalent for IE, Turnabout and I've been having a lot of fun since. It's amazing how you can add features to webpages so easily.

The bookburro script is really cool, it browses amazon, half.com and barnes and nobles and compares prices as you browse.

Looking to save some time of my own, I proceeded to spend way to much time adding search capabilities to Google and a couple other engines, giving IE a feature like Firefox's search box. Hence, Search Engine Helper. What I really like about it is that I can use Google Suggest with other search engines or Wikipedia, etc.

You use javascript to customize webpages once you've downloaded them. With javascript, you can add and remove HTML elements, hence you are changing the webpage after you've recieved it. This makes it easy to do things like remove ads or neat search engine tricks like I pointed out above.
