The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Post by Jon the Great »

SciFi's Friday night line up this summer looks something like this.

Good: Battlestar Galactica (season 2)
Bad: Stargate Atlantis (season 2)
Ugly: Stargate SG-1 (season 9??)

SG-1 is beyond dead.. how can they air this crap? It was always a little cheesy but it used to be watchable.

SG-1 wasn't supposed to continue past season 7, it was fan demand that made them make an 8th and now a 9th season. I'm going to wait until Claudia Blacks character is dispensed with before making up my mind on the new season though. However, even if the season doesn't get much better after she's gone I'll probably still watch it though simply because it's more Stargate...

I've only seen a few episodes of Stargate, but those few have given me the impression that it's rather cheesy or campy. I know a lot of people like it, and I guess that I'm just watching the wrong shows, but it still puzzles me as to why it is so popular. Richard Dean Anderson's character seems rather silly to me from the little I've seen of him.

Disagree, Jon. Crap is what I call Howard Stern's show. I move up from there.

SG-1 is moving out from a transition to new characters after RDA. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially since they're burning that ridiculous idea that the Ancients were an earlier evolution of the human body form on planet Earth. Yes, some episodes can be campy, have some in-jokes, etc. I hope they take some of their new characters and do some of the things with them that they did with the original cast characters in the first three seasons.

Atlantis has pretty interesting characters and plots that move well. That last episode where they used the flashbacks to when they went back to Earth on the Daedalus in conjunction with the return voyage on the Daedalus was really well done, IMO. Flanigan cracks me up.

BSG - great? No disagreement here. Riveting. Outstanding. Any other superlatives, anyone?

Friday is my stay in, popcorn night.

I love all 3 shows. It's going to take some getting used to not having Richard Dean Anderson around, but I have faith in the Stargate writers. And battlestar rocks!

SG-1 isn't the same for me without O'neil. I'm really not liking the new characters so far especially claudia black's.

Atlantis suffers from the same cheesy storylines as SG-1 but it's still interesting enough to watch in my opinion. The season opening had some cool special effects.
